This is a very nice state park. The campsites are spacious and the camp was quiet during our stay. The only issue that someone may have to tackle is that getting to some sites requires you to turn at a cul-de-sac which is very tight. We were fortunate in that we were able to back into our campsite without turning around, otherwise I would have been in a big pickle. Also there is no water at the campsites but for 25 dollars a night this place is still a bargain and worth the stay. We have Verizon and found the cell service adequate. The foliage where we were didn’t allow Starlink deployment.

We arrived after dark by mistake with a 43’ trailer, and the camp host was very helpful getting us backed in. Warning to anyone traveling with a long rig, its tight! They are doing construction so only a certain amount of sites were open.

Certainly a nice enough camp with large, paved and level sites. Each site has a nicely sized and paved sitting area, picnic table and fire pit. A lack of any foliage here for separation, but the sites are large enough to afford a sense of privacy. The site I was in had lots of space between the neighbors. There are 3 distinct camping areas here - dry camping, electric only (where I was) or full hook ups. $25 is certainly reasonable enough for an electric site, but to add the $6.50 reservation fee (which is required) diminishes the value significantly. Much better to spread that fee out over 2 or more nights!
A little winding and narrow getting here, especially coming from the north but manageable with proper care. Interior roads are nicely paved and sized - any size rig can be accommodated here. There is a dump station near the gate house. Potable water is available at the dump station as well as spigots spread around the camping loops. The bath house is centrally located.
For a stay of a few nights, I would certainly come here again.

I have stayed in hundreds of places and hiked many miles and have never experienced a tick infestation like I did at this park. I stopped counting at 20 (!!!) pulled off my dogs (yes, they are on prevention meds), myself (yes, I was wearing DEET), and inside my camper in just two days.
0/10 do NOT recommend

Clean shower and restrooms are also welcomed and was top notch. The volunteer caretakers are super friendly longterm residents and take pride in the place. There is also a very large shopping area 4 miles away next to I-64 where anything you need can be found. This will be my go-to spot whenever I’m visiting family back home again for sure.

I’ve never given FIVE STARS to an electric-only campground (no sewer or water at the campsite #44), but we were so in love with our private, shady little spot in the woods that I’m giving it resounding 5-star 2-thumbs up💚! There are a few drawbacks: very tight turning radius on our cul de sac made parking a little tricky. We had to string 200 ft of hose to the communal water faucet to fill our fresh water tank. In the 2 weeks we were at Babler, we had to move to the dump station and re-park; a real pain. But the bathhouse was nice and well lit (for late night showers), and the forested campsite was just dreamy. Paved pad, 50 amp, fire ring, picnic table, trees, space and privacy!!
There’s great biking in the State Park. Although I’m not sure I could have done it without my e-bike. Lots of not-so-gentle rolling hills. The park’s Visitor Center is worth a stop. Gates close at 9pm; campers exit/enter with a code after hours.
It’s interesting to note that a number of campers we spoke with were local, driving from communities in St Louis to spend weekend time at Babler. Testament to how lovely the locale is.
We will definitely return and highly recommend.

My only complaint is the noise from others the two nights we were there. I am totally fine with everyone having a good time, but when 10pm and later rolls around, it’s time to wrap it up - wishing the staff would have helped enforce that some.
Dump station is roomy and nice - narrow turns to get in when coming from one direction. Stayed in spot #18, which was slightly challenging to back in to with the parking blocks they use to keep you out of the grass. Spot was nice and level for my 35’ fifth wheel. Will stay again when in the area!

Not sure about the few bad reviews but I’m thinking those people would be happier in a RV resort. This is a state park. The campground is very well maintained. Lots of hiking.
