I’m still learning! This is a large USACE Campground with 150 campsites. Some with electric/water only, some with full hookups. First and foremost, the roads coming in from the interstate are treacherous at best! Long, narrow, twisting, and steep! I have a 34’ 5th wheel and truck, and I was exhausted from stress upon arrival. The park itself is quite nice, and well-kept. But easily, more than half of the campsites are not even close to being level. I had to remove my e-bike and bike carrier from the rear of my camper before I could back up into my space.. and even then had to use 4-wheel drive to get up into it.
The rest: No Cell signal, had to ride my bike up to the gatehouse where they had open Wi-Fi. Quite noisy at times.. two sites within 100’ must have thought they were at home; working on cars, racing the engines. Rode my bike through the park a few times, but perhaps due to the demographics, so many people were smoking that it was pretty much all I could smell.
Thankfully, I was only there overnight.

A very expansive park, lovely well maintained campground, with good hiking. We tried to get in the second weekend of November but the whole park was shutdown for a special deer hunt. We ended up at Robertsonville Park, a good second choice.
Hiking was just a bit confusing as the maps are small symbols and legends for younger eyes, eventually finding our way back. No water this late in the season, outside of a hose near the entry. Understandable and not an inconvenience for us.

Lots of deer around and just a peaceful setting with a good vibe. I highly recommend! Shower house is closed from November to February but there is water and a dump station available. I was in spot 41 which was kind of small but there were a lot of bigger sites on the ends and around the curves.

We didn't spend much time in the campground as we were out and about the St. Louis suburbs riding bikes on the KATY trail and visiting friends, however, we spent enough to really like the park. Our camp loop was only about 30% occupied, so we had tons of privacy. The sites in the loop containing #43 are well spaced anyway. The campground is very quiet at night. The bath houses are well maintained and clean.

We showed up without a reservation on a Wednesday. They had plenty of open sites and the campground hosts would not let us stay since we didn’t make a reservation online by 7pm the night before. It was a pretty campground, but it was so aggravating to be turned away when there were open sites.

Large site with gravel pad. Lots of trees. Not sure the difference between regular and premium sites, but just go for premium. If I come back I'd try for #44. Good access to Chesterfield and ammeneites.

Pretty park with big sites and level concrete pads. Good Verizon, sketchy AT&T. But getting there was terrible. Slowly being enveloped by suburbs so curvy, rough two-lanes roads in and out full of traffic, including big rigs. Plus the camp host scolded us moments after parking for not checking in first. But the check in kiosk is in a very tight location and the only way out is through the dump station so forget it if that's being used. And Babler has no laundry facilities. We planned to do a small load on our off day to get us by but we had to go into town. We'll look for an alternate place to stay if we visit STL again.

We used this campground as a base camp for our adventures in St. Louis. It is maybe about 30 miles outside the city's most popular destination spots (Gateway Arch, Busch Stadium, Botanical Gardens, etc.). I'd say expect an hour of travel to and back from the city. We arrived in early July on a Sunday to find the campground mostly empty with the exception that a lot of the hookup sites were taken by what seemed like full time RVers. The campground hosts were very helpful, especially since we arrived without reservations. They helped us pick out a basic site which was priced at a very reasonable $13 a night. Clean showers and very quiet in the non hookup area.
We highly recommend this campsite for those seeking to explore the St. Louis region. Be sure to check out the Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site also - it's often overlooked but it was a great experience.
