Overall Rating

Arrived around 3pm & setup for the night. Then the wind started so around 6 ended up changing positions due to wind. After that it was great. Around 11:00 a car pulled in then left. Not far from Las Crueces.

There isn’t a lot of space for many vehicles, but we had a great spot with plenty of room since there wasn’t anyone else boondocking there. It is a parking lot for the Achenbach trail, but there were only a few cars/hikers coming and going. Being only 20 minutes from Las Cruces, surprisingly, there wasn’t much noise or light pollution.... more

Peaceful parking area at trailhead leading into the Achenbach Canyon. Level area with a pull through and existing fire ring. Wonderful views of the Las Cruces valley at sunset. To reach the parking area one must drive through a subdivision with paved road. There is a large dip in the road that is signed that may be an issue for larg... more
