If you're looking for a quiet place to setup camp this is it.
This site is located on BLM land near the Delamar ghost town. It was once a cattle watering area that has long since dried up. There is almost no vehicle traffic on this road since it terminates in a wash shortly past the campsite. In 12 days we saw a pickup, a Jeep, and a motorcycle. Other than that it's peace, quiet, and dark night sky. I have a 37' 5ver toy hauler and had no problem getting in, turning around, and getting situated. The site is sloped so I dug out a few inches under the tires on one side for side-to-side level and use the landing gear for front-to-back level. If you have a truck camper or class C you can pull in further back and find a decent level area to setup too. The site is large enough for a few Rvs if you're traveling with friends.
There are many roads and washes close by so it's a great place if you have OHVs/ATVs. If you don't have an ATV the road to Delamar is passable by truck/SUV but I'd recommend 4WD or you might need to walk in the last section. If you're on foot there are many abandoned mine entrances to check out.
Cell reception is marginal here. I have AT&T and use a booster and yagi and only had basic connectivity. The nearest visible tower is in Alamo 28 miles away so if you don't have booster I don't think you'll have a useful signal with any carrier.
It's 10 miles on very decent dirt (30 MPH) roads to get in. The turnoff from Route 93 is at 37.619824, -114.794857. There is a parking area at those coordinates so I recommend dropping your trailer there and driving in to check it out. Alternatively you can drive in half-way to 37.540257, -114.822204, leave the trailer, then go and check out the site. DO NOT continue on Abandon Road past the site while pulling a trailer since the road gets very bad quickly.
You're high in the mountains at this site so if there are high winds forecast I strongly urge you to park so that the side of your rig is perpendicular to Abandon Road. While we where there there were crazy strong winds from the South (crossing the road and into the site) but with our front facing that direction it wasn't too bad. But I wouldn't want to experience them broad side on the rig.
John LV would stay here again
