Stayed here 17 June 2020. Campground is level, grass, partly shaded. Restrooms were locked due to covid. There is one water spigot near the entrance to the campground. This campground is no longer free. The fee is $10, and Senior Passes are honored for a 50% discount. Photos posted previously by others still seem to accurately represent the campground. AT&T cell service was 1-2 bars.
While there is not much to do at the campground itself except to kick back and relax (unless you have a boat to put in at the boatramp} -- the general area offers a number of interesting tourist activities. In Carabella there is an outstanding free WWII museum. In St Marks, although the lighthouse is closed for covid, the park is open daytime and it is an outstanding scenic experience. (senior pass honored for free admission.) Check out the display of old rusted trucks on US-319 toward the south end of Crawfordville {https://www.google.com/maps/place/Roadside+Rusted+Ford+Trucks/@30.1294774,-84.3904972,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x88ec8387a7e18ee1:0x51eb758f6864ac7!8m2!3d30.1294774!4d-84.3883085}. It's free. Crawfordville offers a pleasant daytime use park with a rubberized walkway. The Walmart in Crawfordville allows overnight parking. Rocky's RV Park, about 15 miles south of Crawfordville reportedly offers a free RV waste tank dump.

It is not free camping anymore. Is $10 a night but with golden pass we paid $5 a night. Very quiet very peaceful there was some trash that we cleaned up and put in the trash bins when we got here. Vault toilets were in fair condition. Bugs were not a problem.

We stopped here based on the reviews thinking it would be peaceful and it was anything but... There were a few other squatters..I mean campers there. Broken down travel vessels in indescribable condition. We got a creepy Deliverance vibe pulling in, but found a small site that was away from the others. That night we were extremely uncomfortable hearing loud screaming, loud music playing (with heavy bass woofing through the night air) and gun shots after midnight. Pretty sure hunting doesn't happen at this hour, but can't confirm as we don't hunt. Not having any cell service made us a little more nervous. The cop that stopped by when we arrived was comforting a little at least. We asked if we were safe here, and he asked safe from what - people or animals? People, I said. "You should be. Are you packin?" he asked. We left very early the next morning.

We followed our GPS to this place and it took us there the long and difficult way. I had my doubts we would find it before dark, but thankfully we did. When we left in the morning, after studying the map posted at the campsite, we realized there was a much easier road to it and even people living nearby. So we were not as far from civilization as we thought. Our cell phones had no reception though.
We stayed here on a Sunday night and there were only two other people there, one of whom had labeled himself the camp "host" and occupied the first site at the entrance, the other a young man traveling by motorcycle. There are only 5 or 6 campsites in total and they have large picnic tables and fire rings. The area was clean except for oyster shells strewn about the little footpath behind our site and some fishing line. Plenty of trees, some of which already had hooks to hang things. There's a pair of surprisingly non-smelly vault toilets, and lots of information posted about camping guidelines, safety, and wildlife. At the other end is a boat ramp on what I believe is the Ochlockonee River and a loop to turn around a boat and trailer.
It was extremely quiet and dark at night, which was great. Both of the other people must have gone to sleep early. We enjoyed a good night's sleep and woke at sunrise. I decided to walk down to the boat launch to take some pictures, but I was immediately surrounded by a huge swarm of bugs and couldn't get away from the water fast enough. They didn't bite or sting, but got right in my face and landed on my eyelashes and were hard to shake off. I think they were love bugs, but I'm not sure.
Overall, this was a good place to spend the night. The other camper also packed up and left in the morning, only the "host" stayed who appears to be living there. No-one else came through the place while we were there since it is a dead end. We didn't see any boats either.

I wouldn’t stay here again because I’d rather find somewhere else that has more to offer.

Nice campsite, work fire rings, benches, vault toilet and trash cans. The bugs here in summer are very bad. We left early. Any other time and it would be a nice place. There is a boat ramp here, and it's close to town, so you do get since locals coming in, at the weekends apparently some come in looking to hang out and drink.

There are 5 fire pits and 5 picnic tables, but like i said depending on how people park there can be more campsites made. There is clean drinking water available from a spigot at the entrance, and there are vaulted toilets that they clean once a week, normally Monday.
There is a lot to do within a hour drive from this place. There is a boat ramp for the Ochlockonee River right in the campground, which can get a decent amount of traffic on the weekends. We did a lot of kayaking and SUPing in the rivers in the area. Some people will say its to dangerous due to the alligators, but after paddling over 30 miles of alligator infested water we only saw one on the Wakulla River and it wanted nothing to due with us. There are many State Parks to visit in the area. Most of them charge a $6 entrance fee. I would suggest the Wakulla Springs, where you can see alligators, manatees, fish, birds, and swim in crystal clear fresh water out of the worlds 4th largest spring.
There are some locals that live in the Apalachicola National Forest that bounce from campground to campground. Since we were here so long I got to know a few. You could say they are some "interesting characters," but all seemed harmless enough. This area was safe and secure. No one messed with any of our stuff when we were out exploring. The cell reception was ok and our hot spot wasn't great but we normally got 2 to 3 bars 4G.
If you plan on staying here i suggest stocking up before you come, there is a small local store about 20 minutes away, but its expensive and poorly stocked. The nearest real town is Crawfordville and it takes about 40 minutes to get there.
