Very nice bathhouse in our loop clean and updated but a few showers out of order. Also no hot water in men's shower. Laundry room in our bathhouse half the dryers out of order and a few washers out of order. Lots of kids screaming and yelling riding bikes up and down camp roads (spring break?). Older folks riding golf carts. No wifi on our loop, Looked like it was spotty in other areas.

Boat ramps are great and the store has everything you need. Marina sells gas. Love this place!

This is a huge state park campground. Sites vary from "tent only" to supersite with waterfront location and full hookups. There is also a marina with food, boat launching, and docking on Lake Martin. The campground has playgrounds, bathhouses, laundry, propane fill station, Zip-line, archery range, and mini-golf. They also have rental cabins (becoming the thing at Alabama state parks!)
My site (C-18) was in the "daily rental" section. Two of the other areas require a minimum of 1 week rental, and there seem to be a great many semi-permanent occupants. Site was paved and mostly level, but not long enough to park your tow vehicle. This didn't seem to trouble anyone, as cars and trucks were parked willy-nilly on the grass, in unoccupied sites, etc. I talked with a retired couple who live in the area and have been coming to this park since they were kids. They said the park is very safe and ranger patrols are frequent. If you have a site near the water you an swim from your site. Lots of boats were tied up next to people's campsites.
The only "cons" were dogs, some of which never stopped barking. (they did quiet down at night) and trash. The campground needs to clean up the area -- paper scraps, candy wrappers and fast-food cups were left in grills and around sites. Too bad, because it is otherwise a beautiful, relaxing spot! WiFi was non-existant at my site, Cell coverage was minimal.

Extremely disappointed in this state park...so much so that we did not stay. The roads are very narrow and poorly marked. Sites were invisible due to fallen leaves and pine straw. Picnic tables are warped and weathered. Ours was burned through. Site E30 is literally 9 feet wide and very difficult to walk around the camper due to sloping and unmaintained area. We drove through the rest of the campground because we could not believe the rest of the park was like this. We got lost in area C because there are no exit markings. There appeared to be several "campers" that had been there a bit longer then 14 days and the area was, for lack of a better term, trashy. Area B had some paved pads and could be acceptable if rules were enforced and park maintained. Dogs on the loose in several sites and many, many unsupervised children in groups playing in roads in area B. To be fair, we arrived early on Friday afternoon of Veterans Day and the nicer areas B and C were pretty full, so perhaps area E was last to be cleaned up that day. Maybe in high season things are better. The land itself is beautiful with lovely lake view sites. We had heard that Guntersville and Cheaha state parks are wonderful, so we thought this park would be also. From what I read after returning home, the park was renovated in 1982. It is long overdue for a face lift.

Site is located on a curve of narrow camp road. Kinda difficult to back into, very little room to entry side of camper. Contacted park office and they allowed me to move sites to E26.

Spacious site overlooking the creek area. They also have water front sites, but they were all booked when we planned our stay. If you like to hike they have a couple of trails. We seemed to be the only ones hiking, there were a few people on horseback on the trail. Most people had boats or jet skis to enjoy the lake. There did not seem to be a limit on vehicles/boats and people each site could have. Some nights were noisier than others, but were usually quiet by midnight. The campground was clean, but the bathhouse and laundry facility could use a good cleaning. The per night fee is an average of our total cost. Alexander City has a 10% sales tax and they tax everything. The park has a 4% lodging fee and a 4% resort fee.

We really enjoyed our stay at Wind Creek State Park. One thing that is evident about this park is that it is super kid friendly. There's a ton of stuff to do... put put golf, archery ranges, playgrounds, ziplines and obviously fishing and lake activities. There was also an icecream truck that circled around every afternoon. Tis campground is HUGE. hundreds of sites, so it can get quite busy, especially on the weekends. Lake front sites require a 7 night minimum. And during the week, it was mostly quiet and filled up Friday evening.
Some sights have full hook ups. Our site, B116 was a lake front site with just electricity and water. We got a slight discount for a veterans rate. Normally this site is $29 a night but we got it for $24. The bath houses are nice, clean and have laundry facilities.
he premium sites were rather large. Ours, however, was inches away from our neighbors with the slides out. Once again, during the week, it was fine since there were few people there. But Friday and Saturday night it was like a party and folks hollering inches away from where you are sleeping...but that is campground life. Just don't expect to be secluded if not getting a premium site. The booking process was easy online and there are plenty of sites large enough to accommodate big rigs.
Most importantly, the cell phone service here was excellent. We worked with our T-Mobile/Sprint boosted router and had extremely fast internet. I was able to host several video conference calls with no issue whatsoever. I also have Verizon on my phone and had full LTE bars.
There were a few things to do in the area, but not a ton if you're not there for the lake. We went hiking to an old fire tower on the other side of the lake and it offered incredible views.
