We were concerned about getting g a spot but on Thursday morning we had our pick. We chose one of the cement pads with a pavilion. Site 7. Can’t beat the price. $18 nightly. The boondocking free spots around the reservoir were a little rough to get to. Bugs were no problem. We pretty much had the place to ourselves. The reservoir is so... more

The boondocking free spots around the reservoir were a little rough to get to. Bugs were no problem. We pretty much had the place to ourselves. The reservoir is so low the pulled the dock out. Not much activity there at all. Went into Augusta. Cute little town. Nice people

I really enjoyed this spot. There is limited signage, but you can continue past the campground and the dam to find dispersed spots. The road continues for quite a ways, and there are multiple pull offs with fire rings. I parked on a hill overlooking the mountains and the lake. This is dry camping. I really enjoyed this spot. There is limited signage, but you can continue past the campground and the dam to find dispersed spots. The road continues for quite a ways, and there are multiple pull offs with fire rings. I parked on a hill overlooking the mountains and the lake.
This is dry camping. There is NO water, NO bathrooms, and NO trash cans.
There were a few other people camping on the reservoir, including a schoolie. It is very dispersed.

We were very happy to found this site! It was clean and beautiful! ☺️ The dirt road leading to the site was very well maintained! Go for it if you happen to be in this area ☺️

Overall Rating
The campground costs $18/night but you can also camp anywhere around the reservoir for free. Gorgeous view of the Rockies. In October it was quite and peaceful with only a couple of people camping by the entire reservoir. I had Verizon coverage but I don't remember the strength.
