First come first serve so I took a chance in mid Aug and there were lots of sites available. It is not free, $10 a night, half that if you have the National Parks pass. A friendly campground host is on duty. There is close easy access to the river for swimming or fly fishing. Excellent Verizon signal.

Over a mile of washboard road to get into the campground but the campground was shady clean with fire pits picnic tables as expected. Another option is the state park next door. Early season no pay box.

Stayed here in May on our way North and stopped here again for a couple nights going South. The 1.5 mile road to the campground is definitely worse than it was back in May (more ruts and washboard). The host is gone for the season and the water has been shut off. Still enjoyed my stay here. Would stay again.

This is a first come first serve US Forest Service Campground. To get to the campground you need to travel approximately 1.5 miles on a gravel road from the highway. Some areas of the road were pretty rough and there were some pot holes. I felt like the drive to the campground was worth it. There are a total of 20 sites, but only 19 for campers because there is a host on site. There is a 14 day limit. The host was very friendly and had lots of tips for the area. Cost is 10/night or 5/night with senior or access pass. Got here on Friday afternoon of Memorial Day weekend and had choice of at least a dozen sites.
The campground roads and sites are gravel. The site was very level, even better than most private parks I’ve stayed in recently. Most sites are back in, but sites 6 & 9 were pull through. The sites are nicely spaced, have lots of trees, and have plenty of room. Site included picnic table and fire pit. The campground has no hookups, but there are water spigots and vault toilets.
There are walking trails that lead to the river or the state park. The nearby state park is still closed due to the fires in the area last year.
The park was pretty quiet and you could occasionally hear a train in the distance. There was great Verizon signal and I was able to talk, text, search the internet, and stream videos without any problems.

Dry camping, perfect location about 19 sites, very quite. We have a 36 ft class A and towing, we got site #6 a pull-thru, but we would have fit into other sites also. Fantastic hosts Penny and Larry.
Its a gravel road about 1 1/2 mile in from 97, its also a little dusty, but well worth it

Previous reviews cover it. Super clean, great hosts. Our stop was unplanned (rerouted due to wildfire) and we were delighted with this place. Based on proximity to 97 there is some road noise but it's far off. Great little spot for overnight.

The bathrooms were SPOTLESS the best I have seen at a campground. Each campsite was spacious and there’re were still live trees despite the fire destroying most of the trees in the area. No bugs and a quiet night :)

We picked this campground as our Basecamp to see Crater Lake. It was a 45ish minute drive there, so not too bad for a day trip.. The campground hosts were very friendly and told us they had a pull through spot by the restroom ready to go. This was site 6 and was a very large site! We were able to pull through with our 32' towing a Jeep with plenty room to spare. We did drive around later and this appeared to be the largest site and the only pull thru. All others were mostly back in.
Usual rate is 10$ per night. payable by cash or check at the entrance.. we have the National Park Access pass so received 1/2 off. 5$ per night was an absolute steal for this place!
Entrance to the park is 1-2 miles down a dirt road- be prepared to get dirty! The road is well maintained tho, a few washboard areas but nothing too bad.
Water spigots all around the park, as well as several vault toilets and trash cans.
Cell service with both AT&T and Verizon were good. Verizon signal was a little weak, but good enough for basic internet usage- streaming quality low. AT&T much better streaming quality. Either would work well if you just need basic internet for emailing and such.
The area was part of last year's fires, so a lot in the area is burned and still in recovery mode. There is a trail in the park that you can follow down to the river and another trail to the Collier State Park.
The Collier State Park was shut down when we were here, but the logging museum across the road was half way open. We stopped and were able to walk around half the park- rest was closed for restoration from the fires.
We weren't in town long enough to explore a bunch, but appeared to be lots of areas within a short drive for some great day trips. We were in a rush, but next time would totally stay longer.

We stayed here in April of 2021. The campground was officially still closed but the host was present and allowed us to stay. The water was still turned off and trash wasn’t collected.
It’s about a mile of the highway.. dirt road but solid. Had no issues with my 4x2 and a 30’ TT. Highly recommend the campground. Host was amazing!

We stopped here on a trip from San Diego to Bellingham Washington. I was originally planning to make the Bend area but delays during the day and my need for an adult beverage caused me to pull off the road and fire up Campendium. Low and behold we were about five miles from this place. It showed as free on the website but we found it was $10 upon arrival using the old stuff money in a box method. The campground is in the woods. The spaces are spread out. We did not use the restrooms because we are self contained. There is a water facet over a grate every few yards throughout the campground for washing dishes and such. There are a few hiking trails through the woods that go down to a small river. It is not the most spectacular place, but it is good for a stopover or a couple of days of quiet.
