A very nice state park that is extremely well maintained. We were there in late April and there was no bug problem and it was very scenic. The washrooms were very clean and the showers excellent. Lots of good level sites with decent separation.

“Worst bug problem of any campground”

The park is remote and pretty, the campgrounds are laid out fairly well, the campsites are generally level, and the spacing between is fine (though it seems at least half of the weekend warriors have old and very, very noisy generators). But this campground has the worst bug problem of any campground this full-timer has ever been in. I don’t know if it’s just seasonal, but the number and the aggressiveness are both off the chart. I want to stay here longer, but there’s no way I can, because of the bugs. Right now there are hundreds of them across the entire surface of my RV, trying very hard to get in through the window screens, and dozens covering my camp chair (see photo—which was after I had started to clear them off). Even if I’m super fast with opening the door to get in or out, they swarm inside, and are relentless. There’s no hope of enjoying the campsite outside of the RV unless it’s in the hot, direct sun, where they are only about 25% as numerous and aggressive as they are in the shade, or before sunrise and after sunset. But that can’t work. It’s a shame.

Great state park well off the interstate but worth exploring. Just beware the bugs, they swarm. Even in May with a snow storm, they were surprising out in full force.

They have one hookup site. The rest are dry camping but there is a dump and water at the big inning of the loop. NO Verizon (once in awhile I’d get a bar and random txt), but AT&T works here. 2 campground loops, many pull thru sites. Aspen trees between well spaced sites, free showers they we beautiful!, dump station, and fresh water fill up. Nice lake with fishing, hiking trail. Covered picnic tables, it was really quiet , we stayed in early September. It was right off hwy 225.
