This was our first time visiting Whitten Park. We spent five nights over the Labor Day weekend camping with family. While it was crowded as you would expect most places to be on a holiday weekend, it was a very pleasant experience.
The park attendants and hosts are very kind and professional. We had no problems with check in and they even allowed us to check in a little early when we arrived.
The sites are broken up into three different loops with some water-view sites in each loop. All of the sites are paved concrete sites. Most appeared to be somewhat level, however several are short or have a steep incline leading up to the pad, so bigger rigs should investigate before booking. All sites have water and 30/50 amp electric. There are 2 or 3 sites with sewer. I know site 19 had sewer connection if that is important to you. Each loop has a bathhouse facility with restrooms and showers. They were clean, just no a/c. A big plus is that most every site is in the shade.
The park boasts several paved trails for walking and biking. There is a long pier that extends out over the water for some good sight seeing or fishing. There is a playground at the front of the park, a adequate swimming area, a boat ramp, and the entire campground is level enough for bike riding. There is also a historical center connected to the park that is open Monday thru Friday, but we didn’t experience it.
The park is easily accessed from the interstate and there is a Walmart and several restaurants within a five minute drive. The cell reception was good as well. The only down side is the lack of more sewer sites. Would definitely stay here again in the future.

We stayed here as an overnight since it was very convenient to I-22 as we passed by. Beautiful campground! There was a nice bike/hike paved trail very near the campsite, but we didn't have time to take advantage of it. Campsite was plenty level and we were able to keep our truck attached overnight -- always so convenient to be able to do that!
The site had water and electricity and a dump station on the way out of the campground. Our $15 per night rate was due to having the Senior America the Beautiful Pass, otherwise the regular rate is $30 per night.
The Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway was beautiful, particularly with the setting sun. We really enjoyed seeing the waterway traffic, including barges and tugs. We don't live near enough to something like that to get to see it very often.
Absolutely one of the best COE campgrounds we've stayed at!

This is a great COE campground only about 10 minutes off I-22. Sites are level, clean and equipped with fire ring, picnic table and lantern holder. Some of the sites have great views of the water, mine was pretty but through the trees. No noise and actually very few mosquitos for a hot humid june night.

There’s a nature path the connects the various loops of the campground the multiple fishing docks as well as the swim beach.

Site is large, level with a unobstructed view of the waterway. Bathrooms./ showers clean and close by to our site. Laundry not yet open cuz of Covid. No WiFi but cell was good and steady. Park was mostly full but pretty quiet. You can hear people at the beach if they are loud. But not bad. If we had known how nice the park was we would have booked an extra day to ride the paved path along the Tombigbee waterway and go for a swim at the beach.

What a great spot! The park is well maintained, the sites have shade and great views of the lake, and it is peaceful and quiet. There's a nice little swimming area too. No wifi, like most COE sites, but decent signal for hotspot. We really enjoyed our night here, and wish we'd been able to stay longer.

Wow. Whitten is pretty flawless.
A lovely piece of forest from which to create a campground. Level sites atop a hill that leads to the Tenn-Tom waterway through well gladed woods. A short walk through the trees behind the bathrooms is a reasonably priced bar/restaurant at a marina.
During our stay, both weekends were completely full and midweek almost empty in late April. All the people we met there were friendly and helpful.
Bathrooms were spotless, always. Showers perfectly adequate. Laundry closed due to Covid. Employees treat you well and appear to be very happy to be there.
The staff lets a guy come through in his truck selling firewood. A nice touch.
We play disc golf and there is a nice course at the community college not more than a mile from the gate. There is a Walmart a few miles away in Fulton. The Mexican restaurant near it is pretty good.
Of all the Corps of Engineers parks we've stayed in, Whitten is the one we most look forward to revisiting. A couple of old Vermonters never thought we'd be drawn to NE Mississippi so much. It's a gem.

The camp host was the meanest person I ever heard met. She was not only rude but belligerent for no reason. My friend , who was in the car lane, went to the window to show the online reservation and I was in the camper lane, with the window open and we sadly had the entrance blocked. She had shown her reservation and a car pulled behind her so I asked if I could go on to the site, my friend said yes as again this was a paid for reservation and we were blocking. the woman screamed “NO SHE CAN NOT I DO NOT KNOW WHO SHE IS “. My friend said she is with me and you have my license . But the woman kept yelling. I didn’t leave and the horrible woman just kept us there for a prolonged time because as she said she could do what she wanted to. 2 days later she sent rangers down to the site to explain the rules. The problem was according to the rangers she was not supposed to Even ask for the license and they proved to me this camp ground is run by the worse ever. If you are someone who doesn’t live here and do not know her for better treatment, I advise you to find another place
