Bathrooms boarded up and most electrical posts roped off as if not working. Looked like mostly long term squatters there at the time. Just completely unkempt, trash in fire pits etc. Spotted several large dogs roaming in park. Except for the gate open you might think the place had shut down, it’s sad with such a great location it could be a great park if given some time and attention. We just felt totally unsafe to stay there and wanted to share with others to save you the time of driving there.

Bath house in RV camping area is boarded up. However, if you have shower & toilet in your rig you’ll be fine. Dumping station on the way out. Boating & fishing available. This would be a great opportunity for anyone who would want to volunteer and help maintain the grounds in exchange for a site. Ranger on site but never saw him/her, just their truck.

This is a quiet, pleasant campground on a Wednesday night. We didnt need the bath house - which was good since it is boarded up! The lake is pretty, although the park itself was clear-cut by a tornado a few years ago so its not that pretty to drive through. The campground is shady and the electricity works great, so we’re good for a night. Our site is level and most of them appear to be that way. They also have fire pits and picnic tables. If you like to fish, the lake is stocked with bream, white perch, catfish and bass but I’m not sure where you get a license. Probably the ranger hut, but nobody was there when we arrived after 4pm.
The campground is just outside of Tupelo, so things to do are close by if you’re so inclined. All-in-all, it’s a convenient place if you’re passing through.

The phone number did not work and the website wouldn’t work so we decided we would take a gamble on it. We arrived after 5:00 PM on a Monday night. Used the honesty box for $22...never saw a attendant or ranger or anyone for that matter. Power, water, and dump station worked without issues. Only saw 3 other rigs but no people nor heard them. Enough space. Bathhouses or public areas are run down and boarded up. Saw deer tracks but never heard anything. Beautiful sunrise and nice walk to lake. If you want to be alone and silent this is the pace. 10 minute drive to the Elvis statue and 15 from the Blue Canoe; must eat there!

Rate is $22.00 a night and $15 if senior or disabled. Bring cash if you arrive after park ranger is gone as it is on the honor sytem. There is a bath house on site for campers. Haven't used it as we are self contained. Nice place. Sites aren't crowded and has a concrete picnick table, grill and wood fire grill.

“4-2023 Campground Closed For Renovation ”
noted 4/18/2023
Per the mdwfp.com website the park is closed for renovations.
“Closed for Renovations (March 2023)”

I was going to go check this place out even though the last review said it was pretty rough. But I noticed the review is from 2020 and was hoping that maybe some positive changes had been made. I went to look at the campground reservation site and it says it's currently closed for renovations. Hopefully this means that it will be nice and usable in the future!
