Accommodated us last minute. People in office very nice. Only discount Sams. Full hook ups. A lot of things were closed due to Covid. But I’m sure it’s great when everything opens up. Has cable and cell service was good.

Away from the noise of the Interstate. Great choice if travelling on I81. Good water pressure, nice staff. The campground roads are a bit bumpy, the 5mph is a practical limit.

There are just too many positives about this place and the people that work here for one review to fully describe it. In looking at the other reviews we can simply echo all of the great things everyone has said.
They have a scenic park, fishing pond, great, super clean facilities, good wifi, plenty of activities in the park,... but to be clear the owner and ALL of the people that work at this campground are the secret sauce on this place. Everyone was so personable and really took an interest in our stay and how they could make us feel more at home. Thanks Andy, Tammy, Pam, Keith, Angie, James and Mitch for your help just to name a few that interacted with us personally during our stay. The best way to describe it is that the staff takes ownership of the place and really cares about your experience. We ran into countless “daily random acts of kindness” from everyone that worked there.
We originally saw the positive reviews, planned to stop by for just one night and ended up calling this campground home for over a month! It ended up serving as an amazing home base for site-seeing to historic Monticello, Staunton, Lexington, Harrisonburg, and hikes in the Shenandoah and Blue Ridge Parkway.
Way to go Walnut Hills, you’ve set the bar high for all other campgrounds!

We stayed here twice on a long trip from SC to PA. On the trip north we picked a no sewer site. On the way back south we chose a full hookup site. Both sites were large and easy to get into. The campground roads are a little tight with a large rig, but with care are negotiable. The campground is close to the interstate, but we didn’t notice any truck noise on either visit. The campground very well taken care of. The staff was friendly and helpful. They had a “corn maze” set up with snow fence near the pond. On both visits the campground was nearly full, but still quiet. They advertise an early check in, but I didn’t see a note about the late check out. If the site you are in is available, late check out is 6pm for a $10 fee. My wife HAD to visit the Walton Mountain museum on the way north. It was really nice to leave the camper on the site until we got back from the museum.

They have a nicely stock store with firewood bundles at $6.50 for a large bundle of good wood. For kids there is a very nice playground, they have a good disk golf course and a dog park as well.
Our site, number 31, backed up to the pond with a beautiful view of the entire pond and surrounding hills beyond. The site was spacious with a fire pit and a picnic table and room for four chair ( or more) for sitting around and enjoying the natural beauty of the park.
The campground is very easy to reach right off Interstate 81 near Staunton, VA. We went into town to do a little site seeing and were pleasantly surprised that they closed a main street to traffic so that the restaurants had ample outdoor seating.
WiFi was good withing the park as was the Verizon cell service.
Highly recommend this wonderful campground.

We really enjoyed our time here. We had been camping in the path of tropical storm Isasis and were fleeing to safer ground. The place goes on and on. There is a lovely pond for fishing, frisbee golf, places to walk through the grounds, a nice dog park and a nice little store. We stayed in a pull through site at the front of the campground, which was the least picturesque, but still very nice. We had 50amp and water. A honey wagon will come and pump you out for $20. That's a great deal. I could do my laundry in my rig, no laundry mat! I couldn't have done it in the laundry mat for $20. We needed a new shower head while there and found it in the little store there. It is a nice quiet park, friendly staff. The internet worked fine with our own WIFI and booster. My husband works full time from the RV and he had no problems. There are stores and restaurants not far away. We would stay here again. I would add that the dump station is tricky in a big rig. We are in a 38 foot class A. The dump station is on an awkward hill, and we had to block traffic because of the tight area. Not a deal breaker.

Very nice campground with a large pond, swimming pool (which was closed for covid), dog play area and playground. Bath house was very clean and services were good. Had a nice pull through area for overnighters who just wanted to get in and out.

Access was easy. The campground was busy and everything was clean and neat. The sites were a little tight. We were there for the local hiking so we didn't spend too much tie in the park. I'm a little late with my review, we were there the later part of June.

Extremely clean and well kept campground. Nice staff. For us it was a night in day our site. 3 miles from 81 made this perfect. The scenery and views are off the charts! Typical campground WiFi but no issues with my t-mobile

We had been staying on the Virginia coast, but decided to head further inland during Tropical Storm Isaias. We happened to find Walnut Hill through this site and as soon as we got set up, we were sad that we were only there for the one night. Our pull-through site overlooked rolling green hills dotted with black cows; the small pond and tree-lined roads added to the peaceful scenery. Our area of the park was rather full, but everyone was very quiet with the only noises the slightest hint of the Interstate in the distance and the occasional "thunk" on the top of our RV from falling walnuts. Both AT&T and Verizon signals were usable for work and streaming unboosted.
We did not need any of the provided amenities, but we enjoyed the wide open areas to walk our dogs (and there is also a fenced dog park that we didn't use). It is obvious that this family-run park is well loved and cared for and we look forward to one day returning for a longer visit.
