Close to the salt lake valley. Reservoir spots were pretty full when we got there on a Saturday. Additional camp south of the reservoir. The is a smaller reservoir to the south as well. I would stay here again. A little windy in the morning

While the campground description says 10 spots that didn't seem to stop people from parking their RVs anywhere and everywhere. It's pretty trashy actually, too bad since it is a pretty spot. I recommend continuing past the reservoir for another 2 miles or so, there are very nice, flat dispersed camping spots along the road. The dispersed spots have enough room for the largest 5th wheels and the road is well maintained and there is plenty of room to turn around if need be. No cell or other services at the dispersed spots. As others mentioned, if you cannot stand off road vehicles this is not the spot for you. If you can put up with them the dispersed spots will work. We would not stay at the reservoir but would stay at the dispersed spots again.

This campground is in a beautiful setting, but unless you’re into dirt bikes and OHVs, I wouldn’t recommend it. There are only 12 established campsites, each with deteriorating shelters, picnic tables and fire pits, however dispersed camping appears to be allowed in an unlimited way. When we were there, midweek, there were around 50 RVs parked around the reservoir. What could be a very beautiful and pleasant getaway is being ruined by the lack of oversight in this free, National Forest campground.

Vernon Reservoir campground is a dispersed campground with ten sites with picnic tables, fire pits, and drop toilets. The main activity is fishing, relaxing, and OHV riding. There is no drinking water, all trash must be packed out, and glass bottles are not allowed. Most of the area around the lake is part of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, with private land intermixed. It appears the private property is well marked. Vernon Reservoir is nine miles south of Vernon, Utah, on a dirt road. There are a lot of unofficial campsites that folks had set up around the lake.
The lake is not very big. A lot of families were fishing, and it seemed like everyone was catching a few. We did see an 8 lb. 4 oz. tiger trout that was harvested, which was the exception, not the norm. I believe most were catching 10 to 14-inch trout.
The fire pits in our area of the campground had been vandalized. I had to dig the fire pit out at our campsite because it was full of trash. My wife and I packed out six bags of trash we picked up from the southwest side of the lake. It upsets me when people leave their garbage. From the stares we got, I think people wondered what crime this old couple committed to having to do community service. We always try to leave any area better than we found it.
The best part of Vernon Reservoir is that it is located about 70 miles from our home. Next time we will probably stay in the National Forest near the reservoir for privacy.

Vernon Reservoir is a small lake you can take a small boat with a electric motor, kayak float tube on. Some cedar trees around for shade. Boy Scouts come out often so be aware of that. There are a couple of Toilets there but no drinking water. It is a dirt road to get there off of Highway 36.
