“Amazing views, rough road”

The road on the WEST side of the pass (prior to Summit Campground) is just bad enough that you can still drive a high clearance vehicle. That statement is not a compliment. The road alternates between washboard, sharp rocks, more rocks, large ruts and did I mention rocks. I do not think this road has been graded in years.
The views are amazing and cellular connection improves as one climbs, but it is not worth the damage you will do to the inside of your trailer. Leave this one to the Jeeps.
This forest road spur has 2 sites that are shaded with a very large fire ring. The sites could easily hold a small group. The sites were mostly level but there were some low branches that may limit passage of large vehicles. Due to the trees, solar or Starlink would not work at this site.
Past the sites the two track road continues to a gate that has been damaged. There may be more sites past the gate but because it was crushed we could not move it.
The wind was steady and there were little mosquitoes, however we did not stay the night.
The area was very popular as we visited on a Friday and most sites were already full.
