We stayed in late March so nights were cold but they have fire pits and the days were sunny and warm, giving us plenty of solar power to heat the trailer in the night.
Would stay again!

Alabama Hills, Mt. Whitney, Manzanar, and the Western Movie museum. This does not disappoint!

We love the mountains, so this is a great spot for us, plus this section of 395 is one of my top 5 areas in the country. Just a short distance from town choose boondocking in Alabama Hills, or stay here for 8 bucks. Great site, amazing views, camp host was super cool,....
Don't camp here, it sucks.

Stopped here after leaving Mammoth Lakes. We only planned to stay 1 night but ended up staying 6 days. This is a BLM Campground. Has potable water, pit toilet restrooms that are super clean. The great thing as a stopover is that this camp has an rv dump site with a fee of only $5. Camp is high desert but has a flowing creek running through it. Views of Mount Whitney are truly breathtaking, especially with a full moon!
I’m not normally a desert camper, although we’ve done a bit, but I would definitely stay here again.

Added bonuses: dump station, potable water and fantastic cell service.

After a few days bathing in the stunning views of the Alabama Hills, we chose to have a slow re-entry back into the "real" world with a stop at Tuttle Creek. The campground was a perfect stop for us as it was nearly empty, the sites are large and spread out, the vault toilets were exceptionally clean and there were fresh water spigots. Plus at $8.00 per night ($4.00 with a Golden Age Pass) it was a bargain.
Although we had driven through Tuttle Creek in the past we had never stayed here with our rig. We definitely would stay here again. The campground has a paved road in, you gotta go slow due to a half dozen speed bumps and than becomes a well maintained dirt road. You will have two campground loops to choose from. We chose the southern end of the campground for the views. Each site had a wonderful view of the Inyo Mountains to the east, the Owens Dry Lake Bed to the south, the Sierra Nevadas to the west and the Alabama Hills to the north. A whole different perspective here, yet only a few miles from the Hills. We were fortunate to have clear nights so the starlit skies were brilliant.
Our campsite was facing the Owens Dry Lake Bed, so we had clear high desert view and great walking for us and our dogs. Sites on the creek were also nice, offering the constant soothing sound of the creek. Very few sites were level, but with minimal use of levelers will get you to that sweet spot. There are no shade trees, great for solar, bad for heat relief. It was perfect for us as it was not hot in late March. The wind did come up during the day, but gusts were mild and the wind subsided in the afternoon. The dump cost $5.00 to use, a fee if you camp there or not, but a side note...the water nozzle did not fit our standard hose. We were fortunate to have a 5 gallon bucket to fill up to rinse our sewer hose and that worked well.

The hiking trails are numerous and you can easily drive to Mt. Whitney base parking. We enjoyed driving through the Alabama Hills and the movie museum in Lone Pine is definitely worth a visit.
We where there in September and the nights where in the 40's and days in the 70's.
You can't beat the price with the senior discount only $4 a night!

After 5 days of making do with bad unreliable signal in the Alabama Hills, we moved here for the work week and were very happy with this great campground. Clean restrooms, water, beautiful sites with large fire rings and views of the Sierras! Site 53 is higher up at the back of the campground and nicely isolated from the others.
