Question about Tuttle Creek Campground

Laurob1234 asked on 7/6/2021

I see it's 'no reservations' - any tips (and what are the chances) for getting a site here midweek in August?

Hello, I think your chances would be excellent. It will be very hot there then and little shade available. I have never seen that campground full and I have stayed there 5 or 6 times on weekends.

August will be hotter than when we were there in June so I would guess fewer people. In June, to our surprise the campground was never more than about 1/3 full over the course of two separate visits. Midweek would be an even better bet. Great back up plan available in that there are plenty of boondocking options in Alabama Hills and even on the road to the campground entrance.

It's a really large campground and mid-August it will still be HOT so I'd guess chances are you stand a very good chance of getting a spot.

There are plenty of sites available for you to choose from. Mid August is gonna be very hot, I’m pretty sure you will get a site.

I would say chances are high, because this area gets really hot. I doubt there will be many campers here in August.

August is going to be extremely hot, between 90-100 degrees, so I doubt you would have difficulty finding a spot.

While we were there in April, it never filled up. For August, I would suggest mid week and as early I the day as practical. Boondocking in the Alabama Hills is a other option.

We were there in the spring and mid week has a lot of vacancies and one nighters: just try to arrive in the noon time at latest. Worst case their is free BLM space nearby.
