When I walked into the office here our hostess said she remembered me from my call six months earlier. You don't often get a greeting like that. When I walked into the office here our hostess said she remembered me from my call six months earlier. You don't often get a greeting like that. This is a small but pleasant RV park with some strategically located shade trees but no tables or firepits. The wifi works well so you don't need to rely on Verizon here. The nearby Tucannon River is a slow-flowing stream that meanders by the camp. Be sure to check for ticks after seeing it. There are clean restrooms with pay showers but no laundry facilities. All sites are full hookup. The main appeal here are the hosts. They welcome you like missed relatives. At the end of a long driving day that's pretty nice.

The camp managers, Steve and Diane, greeted us warmly when we arrived. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and right at home. They are excellent ambassadors. The camp managers, Steve and Diane, greeted us warmly when we arrived. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and right at home. They are excellent ambassadors.
This place is located in an arid region. Very few trees around here except along the river. The starkness of the landscape and the mountains are beautiful. A fast flowing stream (Tucannon River) is directly behind the campground with a well groomed pathway to it from the campground.
Description: Commercial campground with full hookups. The site map shows 33 sites available. This campground seems to serve a mix of permanents (campers that appear to have a sense of permanence. example: External propane tanks beside the camper) and transient (campers only here for a few days.
All of the sites are well groomed with over 20 ft of green space between the sites. You won't feel crowded. All of the sites are pull through. Sites are very long (100 ft), level and graveled. The grass is watered daily and this place is like a little oasis. Very green well manicured lawns. The modern bathhouses are the cleanest I’ve ever seen. Showers cost $1.00 for seven minutes. No Verizon signal. You are nestled down in a valley. But, the good news is they have decent Wifi, and you can upgrade if you want faster internet (which we didn't need).
Note, there are no picnic tables or fire rings. Plan accordingly. I never use them anyway. In my opinion the campground looks much nicer without them.
Propane is sold here for $3.00/gallon. A bit pricey considering I’ve seen it priced around $1.99 recently at several places. But it is very convenient given that the nearest town is 19 miles away.
While staying here I strongly recommend a trip over to Dayton (19 miles) to look around. This town of only 2,600 has a great deal of historic sites. I would suggest starting at the railroad depot, which is now a visitor center. The town has a number of great places to eat. You won't find any fast food chains in this town.
We certainly felt comfortable and safe here. We would definitely stay here again if we find ourselves in the neighborhood.

Awesome park near Dayton and Palouse Falls. Absolutely NOTHING, including cell service nearby, which made this open campground in a winter wheat field absolutely perfect! Side note unrelated to park.... ran into the mother of all dust storms about 40 miles west of here near Othello and ended up posting up in Connelly. Added a day to the trip but was a sight to behold. Wow!!

We used this RV park as home base to explore the surrounding rural towns and activities for a week. The weekly price of $180 provides a nice discount. The park is simple, well kept and well laid out with long level pads and generous grassy sites. Most of the sites are drive-thru. Not many trees however to provide much needed shade in the hot summers. Our stay was mid-September so not a problem at all. It's a short walk to the river although you don't actually see the river from the park. There are no picnic tables, fire rings, or laundry facilities which wasn't a problem but plan accordingly. It's right along Hwy 12 but with very little traffic we never noticed any noise. Bathrooms are spotless with a coin operated shower and adjoining dressing room. They provide free wifi but warn you that it's very limited. They are working with the local provider to get improved service, but when isn't clear. We found it was either non-existent or pretty good, nothing in between, although we don't do any streaming so can't comment on that. In nearby Starbuck was a great little restaurant called Rebecca's Lodge, open for breakfast and lunch. It too was spotless, cute, homey and a good value for a good menu, and with good wifi.

I agree with all previous reviews but it is a year later so worth updating. Very nice place. Well managed and very clean. One note’ it is tick season in June here. Your pets are OK in the park but not in the brush along the river. Treat them ahead of time and be aware. No laundry facilities or I would have rated it 5 stars.

The hosts, Dan and Allie could not have been more lovely. They are friendly and kind and helpful (they are mostly why I am giving 5 stars!) There are several sites that have some nice trees and shade, but quite a few do not. We heard that the owners had to cut down many, many of the huge Poplar trees that bordered the entire perimeter due to safety reasons (tree age and power line issues.) I can only imagine how beautiful it was with all those trees- but they are working on new plantings etc. The grass was green and well manicured, the bath/showers were very large and clean as could be, and the full hookups were great! Personally I think sites, 12, 13, 14, 15 were the best for shade. All sites were huge in length with a nice grass separation from the neighbors. It was wheat harvest season (early August) so there was some truck road noise- but it didn't bother us much- and it was very quiet at night.
I heard some coyotes off in the distance at night and we did see a Mama turkey and her 3 babies strolling through the campsite each afternoon.
I want to say that when we first arrived at Tucannon River RV Park I thought we were in the middle of nowhere, but there was actually a lot to do and see around here.
The town of Dayton is small but very quaint with shops and restaurants and even 1 wine tasting room in an old train station. Its a 45 minute drive to Walla Walla where they have 120+ tasting rooms/vineyards and a lovely walkable downtown area. There is hunting and fishing all very near the campground.
There is little to no cell signal here, but the free Wifi worked OK- enough for texting and a google check or two!
All in all we had a very enjoyable stay and would stay here again in a minute!
