This is a convenient spot to stay the night. Easy to get to and leave. Enter by the BLM office and leave by the same way. It is far enough from the road so that you don't hear the traffic. We got a couple of OTA channels and watched an old Star Trek episode.

Description: Old gravel highway on the south end of town. Far enough away from Hwy 95 to be comfortable for a stay. Old road does not return through back to the road so be aware of your turn around. We’re a 65’ fifth wheel combination and had no problem. But we scouted before we committed and stopped and got turned around before the chance of night travelers blocking us in. The Truckstop on the southeast end of town across from the USFS and BLM offices allowed us to fill with water. Propane was also available there.

Tonight is 50. Honestly could probably stay here a long time no one even noticed me. No card driving through to make you dusty which is a plus. Just watched the traffic roll by till nightfall.Nice views of the mountains in the distance. Looks like a cool little town.
Gas is $2.59 unfortunately, but that’s okay.

This is almost a 5 star boondocking site except for maybe the location near the highway.
Nice flat boondocking site just beyond the BLM office, west side of highway, across the highway from the Texaco. Highway sounds are minimal, drowned out by the whistling wind. Flat “sites”. Only two others there while we were but with plenty of room. As others have said, great place for dogs. Lots of open country and dirt roads for hiking, biking, running and rockhounding.
Very clean, No trash, some glass off the road but not much.
Tonopah has all the services you could need.

The views are gorgeous and it’s surprisingly quiet up on the hill away from traffic. There are a couple level spots but not all is level. Smaller rigs went down the road farther to the South and found some nice spots but the roads gets rougher after you leave the hill. Small town has everything you need. Would have given a five except for broken glass which is scattered around on the hills. Would come back again!

When entering the gravel drive for the BLM office, stick to the left for an easy entrance. The farthest left entrance was fine for our 39' fifth wheel.
This spot is quiet and fairly isolated, despite being right off the highway. The highway noise is very mild and there was very little traffic on the gravel road while we stayed here for 14 nights in mid-April 2020.
Cell reception was great with Verizon and AT&T.
Wind is the only draw back which is why I gave this 4 stars (I consider that "site quality"). It is to be expected considering the location near the mountains, however it made sitting outside at night a little chilly.
Solar was great, no trees in sight. Did not see any trash but there was some broken glass near the edge of the gravel road (I assume people shooting bottles?)
Town population is small but it has the necessities. A Family Dollar as well as a grocery store, a truck stop with water and propane, and a small park with fairly new playground equipment a few minutes away (Butler Park).
The stars are clear at night, there is very little light pollution (some bright security lights if you stay closer to the entrance).
When you first arrive, drive a little over the hill for the best spot (still the wide gravel area). It narrows to a 1 lane gravel road, we did not venture down the entire way but on our short walks we did not see a place to turn around.

After reading other reviews I decided to stop at this location on my way from Oregon to Arizona. This was an easy and quick stop. The turn off to this location is opposite of the Texaco has station. Immediately after the gas station and ranger station. There are three different gravel openings to get to the flat area. They are very close together and one does have a dip in front of it. As of March 23 the dip is not that bad and I could’ve made it with my 24 foot motorhome which is towing. But because I read reviews I opted for the third gravel opening and made it just fine. I was the only person at the site until about 9:00 PM when another motorhome pulled in and parked behind me. Very quiet, you can hear highway noise, beautiful scenery, and a great place for the dogs to run around. The local town is basically closed because of the current virus but I was able to get takeout and grab a few necessities from the local dollar general store.

We unhooked and drove where other vehicles were farther in but felt more comfortable maneuvering our rig in the wider road as you drive in. We made a u-turn and situated our rig facing NB between two hills so not too much freeway noise.

I stayed here on May 29th 2019. Thanks to an other reviewer I could find the entry. Once you are off from the little asphalt entry part the dirt road splits right away into 3 choices. It was dark when I arrived. I stopped on the asphalt entry and walked first the dirt road choices. That was a good idea because one is impossible with a deep dip, one has a somehow sudden bump up to a higher level and the 3rd was smooth going all the way in. So, I would recommend new arrivals to first walk before driving into a bad choice dirt road. Once in I drove about 500 yards. The campsites are like 50 feet wide dirt road. The main road seemed about 300 yards away and noice-level was low, with little traffic. I was the only camper here. It looked like fresh graded with a fine gravel. My AT&T prepaid cell phone had no Signal. My AT&T Netgear Hotspot had 4 bars signal but only 0.1 MBit speed, only good for text. My T-Mobile iPad had 4 bars and a decent 3 MBit speed.
