“Shaded large site”

The main road to Thumb Butte is paved, with two lanes and well maintained. Once you turn onto the unpaved section the road becomes one lane with turnouts. The road is passable without high clearance with some washboarding and pot holes.

The site is in shade and shares a road with site 3.

The site had 3 bars of Verizon.

The site had Voice only AT&T

“Nice, big, designated spot”

Thumb Butte Road is paved and very nice. At the top, you'll turn right onto Thumb Butte Loop which is a very heavily rutted dirt road. You don't have to go far though. There are a lot of camping spots just past the turn-off. Again, lots of deep ruts, but seems doable.

The spots are very large and it's a really nice spot. Beautiful scenery with large granite boulders and ponderosa pines. Unlike most boondocking, the sites are numbered.

I need to start writing my reviews right away - I know I had cell signal, but I think I had to set up my booster for the first time for both AT&T and Verizon...

This was a very quiet spot when I was there on a Tuesday night. Would have gone back if I hadn't moved to a BW host.
