The reservoir is at the bottom of a valley and get pretty windy in the afternoon. The lake is a popular destination and was busy (and loud) well into the night on the weekend.

The host was very friendly and accommodating upon arrival. There is no water in the lake, so there is no view of the water but still lovely. The shower walls need a good scrubbing but the water was hot and generous. Some spaces are not level, but ours was perfect.

We came on a Sunday (with no reservations) on April 24, 2022 for 2 nights to rest up on our road trip. Many sites were available for the upcoming weekdays ( Sunday-Thursday )

This RV only park is at the end of the road of many day use areas in this recreation area. Therefore many lookie-loos just cruise thru to check things out which is a drag for anyone actually camping here. But that's what ya get for what I call "city camping" or closer to a bigger city.
It's a nice enough place for a couple of nights in the spring, but I would NOT make it a destination at any other time.
The semi-level sites are very exposed on a grassy, steep hillside overlooking the extremely low lake. Nothing but a sparse few trees to protect you from any relentless wind, rain, or sun so plan for the elements. Zero privacy.
It's a long, long way down to the waters edge (during these last few drought years) so don't expect a cool dip.
Full hook-ups, $ 35 a night.
There are hot showers for free for campers use only. They are pretty dated, basic, and sparse. The shower water smelled strongly of sulfur (glad I did not wash my hair), but at least they worked.
There is a camphost on site but we noticed lots of trash in the empty site's fire rings. And wondered why?
Good cell coverage for Verizon.
A few miles drive into Ashland.

The sites are hardtop and our 45ft Class A easily fitted leaving plenty of space for the car in front. Water, sewer, and electricity are well-positioned (one of my pet peeves when they aren't!).
This is all about the view though. Near 360 view of the hills and mountains. Lots of deer. The lake is at 2% at the moment, but apparently that doesn't make the fish 50x more likely to bite!! It's only a few minutes into town and it has just about everything, with good food options. The Mexican restaurant Le Paraiso was one of our favorites and we are used to southern California quality Mexican food.
We are now planning to include this stop in our future trips. One thing that may make booking tricky is that FEMA is moving in some families displaced by the wildfires, so I'm not sure how packed it will be for the next few months.
A note on the deep road dip at the spillway. We touched down with the back of our RV on the way in (it has a roller on the back so no damage, but it was a fairly hard scrape). On the way out I increased the load on the tag axle, lowered the front once it was through the dip so that it would help raise the rear, crossed it somewhat diagonally to get the flattest path and we didn't touch down on the way out! On the way into the campground that flattest path would be entering on the right side and exiting on the left side.

Gorgeous views and access to the lake. Decent hookups. No privacy between sites but spaced out. Expect partiers and late night violations of quiet hours.

We stayed here with our 41' Solitude and didn't have a problem, but that would be about the longest I'd bring here. Besides the space length, the road in crosses the spillway and we scraped the rear bumper on the way our because it dips so much. Unfortunately there was a fire 20 miles north of us so there was smoke most of the time. The biggest problem was the water level. A local said it was at 10% capacity and while their was still enough for swimming and kayaking and fishing, getting close enough was the issue. The level was dropping 3' day so the shore was so muddy (and at places steep), you could not launch. The boat ramp was 1/4 mile long, but ended way short of the water. All that said, we'd stay here again, but in the springtime when the hills would be green and the water level higher. They have full hookups, some shade trees, great views and you are very close to Ashland and all it offers.

The staff is more than friendly and accommodating. Level large sites. Every site has lake view. Boat landing is real handy. No Wi-Fi but that is OK. Toilets were open but showers closed due to Covid-19

One of the best bangs for your buck out there! Full hookups on a level pad, the place is spotless, the views are great, the host is nice, the lake water is clear and checkout is at noon! Great place to stay for a couple of nights.
