I’m leaving this review so that others who choose to stay at this park will be more equipped to deal with their experience. I stayed at the Texan Rv Park to attend RV fundamentals at the Nrvta school. I was there about 10 days. Honestly, by the end of the 10 days I was grateful to leave. The work campers and the opportunity to form community with fellow students are the gold that makes staying at this park worth it in spite of its challenges. Great laundry room, great Clubhouse, great community, and great location for attending the school. Let’s just say the leadership does not pride themselves on Customer Service. This is a family run business and they all seem stressed out and overworked which trickles down to the interactions with customers. I wish them the best and I hope they get some much needed vacations and maybe a pay raise.

All sites are nice but Site 118 is outstanding!!! Great staff and facilities. If you own an RV Strongly recommend the campground and school. I was only here for a week long class but learned a ton. I am a much better and safer RV traveler. Yep, the campground is great!!!

The pads are gravel but quite level. Each space has a small grassy area with a wooden picnic table. Small street lights to give some light at night. While we were there, they were busy making even further improvements, adding a cafe. Don at the front office was extremely helpful each time I called and very kind and so jovial.
One evening on our walk, we had the pleasure of talking with the husband/wife team who manages the park. Once again very kind and willing to answer all our questions about the park and the RV school attached to the park. Probably the only draw back was the tiny nats and mosquitoes, but that comes with camping.

The Texan RV Park is easy to find and about 5 miles outside of Athens TX. Sites were good size and they have the ability to fit any size RV. They also have a nice dog run area. I attended some of the NRVTA training which is on site and enjoyed the training. However, the NRVTA just got accredited and changes are being made. No more long stays and the prices are going up. They are building more sites and also have numerous cabins to rent. Their shower/laundry facility is very clean. The down side to this park is that it sits on 37 acres and the only have 4 showers, 4 washers and 4 dryers. They need another facility in the "back" area for those guests. Also no kids play area.

We stayed in site 120 for 5 weeks, January- February while taking the RV Basics course and RV Tech Course in a 40' class A with our CRV towed. We has plenty of room to park and nice space between sites. Very quiet park. Appreciated being close to the bathhouse and club house. So nice to meet up with others in the clubhouse or outside around the firepit. Even enjoyed a super bowl pot luck in the clubhouse organized by John and Vicki one of the many workcamper couples living there. Everyone is very nice and extremely helpful. The office is great with reservations, which we changed a couple times, holding packages for you and being available to refill propane tanks. The bathrooms were always clean, with plenty of hot water for showers. Laundry facilities were nice to have with plenty of coin operated washers and dryers. Even a change machine on the wall. The sites in the far back seemed to get much less wind, but are furthest from the bathhouse and laundry. From what we could tell, many sites are not level. We had to manually level our coach with large wood boards on just the passenger side in site 120. Not a big deal, but good to know. We camped at Texan RV Park in a Motorhome.

Before the park changed hands in July 2017, it was a beautiful, neat, clean, well cared for place to live. People were friendly and sociable. After the new owners took over it steadily went down hill. We were never given any rules and if we were, they would not have been enforced. The manager, Todd, does not believe in slow. Unlicensed people worked on electrical pedestals and filled propane tanks. We observed a workamper drive over trash and not pick it up because he said it was not his duty on this day. People told us they were quoted one rate and it was higher when they arrived. We were in a site where we could see the operation of several aerobic systems. Distribution sprinklers were often plugged for months, or not adjusted so they were spraying into the, once pristine, pond. We observed staff, including the manager, Todd, pumping septic, onto the ground, as well as tanks that were not operating properly and overflowing. Grass was only mowed sporadically, ours maybe once a month, unless we asked. When the rent was raised and we asked if we could now get some services, we were told to cool our jets. We finally left, as did all but one of the long term residents who were there when the changeover took place. It's ok for a pass through, a week or a month maybe, but I would no longer recommend long term. Restrooms and clubhouse were clean.
