Very quiet setting in an open gravel parking area. Great for solar and Starlink. Heavily forested surroundings. Only 11 miles from Gettysburg battlefield. Loved it

Stayed here this weekend, backed our trailer into the campsite at the far end of the lot and felt entirely at peace in the woods for 2 days. There was a fire pit and some foraged firewood left by the last campers that came in handy on the first night, we replenished it, of course! The site is close enough to the road to hear cars/trucks as they drive past, but traffic is minimal and at night it’s an all-cricket concert. Through hikers use the top of the lot as a lunch spot, but we almost didn’t even notice they were there!

We originally had s permit for site 7 in the northern part of park. It was super unlevel so we went to the office and were told overflow 21 was available. We took it.
It's been a great area. Nice and level. A lot of activity but relatively quiet.
Trail nearby to hike.
No Tmobile service.

Wonderful place to stay. I went to the District Office to get a permit, which you do need. Took 5 minutes. The receptionist was so helpful. We spent 5 nights here while visiting Gettysburg. We were in the back corner and when we first got there there were 3 horse trailers camping in the front part of the lot. They were there the first 3 days and were very friendly to talk with and learn about some of the trails.
During the day a surprising number of cars show up to go hiking 3-4/day, but they never even gave us a second look so I felt private and secure. Left a solar panel out the whole time we were there with no issues.
There is a lot of walking area from this campsite. In another month there will be lots of blueberries to pick there are blueberry bushes all over.
Originally we only planned to say 3 nights but it was so pleasant and relaxing in the evening we decided to extend our stay. 4 days we went to Gettysburg and got back about 4pm the other days we just stayed there and walked trails in the woods and relaxed. There were virtually no bugs and lots of birds singing and we watched 3 baby squirrels playing in a tree.
If we ever pass by again we will definitely be staying here, the only drawbacks were the road up to the parking area is pretty steep and winding but we managed fin in our 38ft class A, and the lack of Verizon service, 0 bars in the lot and max 2 bars at some places on the trails. The 2 bar places were about 1/2 mile from the lot. Fortunately for us we don't absolutely need connection and we connected when we went to town.
For those with OTA TV we were able to get enough channels to get news and weather.

We found the area easily and were delighted with the designated “overflow” area 21. It was a big parking area but with great camping spots all along the perimeter of the parking area, many with campfire rings. Plenty of fire wood available for campfire. Very quiet at night, not many people camping and just a little road noise. Lots of trails to hike or bike. Would love to go back and do mot exploring!
