However, the staff were excellent and gave us site 51 in Chinquapin Hill in stead of our reservation for the second night. Site 51 was paved an, while also not very level, it was better than 155. We cannot recommend any site in the 150's range in Hosack Run, they’re all very small and none are level. Chinquapin Hill is a better option imho. FYI site 53 in CH look more level. We should mention you may hear some road noise from Rt-30 in CH. On the bright side the restrooms were exceptional; quite new and very well kept in both CG's. Overall the park is well located, especially if you're headed to Gettysburg; about a 20-30 minutes drive. We highly recommend visiting Gettysburg, especially if you have children in the 8-12 yr range, the history there is amazing. Caledonia SP also has a pool but we didn't have time to visit it, but it looked great from the drive in. It also appears to have some nice hiking, there again we didn't get to personally sample these as we spend our free time at Gettysburg. If not for the site level issues we would give this park 5 stars (especially the staff) but alas, it only gets 4 stars.

We arrived late, the maps online were a bit fuzzy about where the dump & fill were, but found it just past the camp host in our Chinquapin Hill East loop. Be aware quiet hours are an early 9:00 pm, if you’re planning a late arrival. There is one other site being occupied on our loop, so it’s been very private & quiet (early October). Our loop has mostly shorter sites, best for small campers, but ours was wide. We’re 21 feet & comfortable. Check the driveway lengths when reserving. The loop is well spaced with oak & pine trees. Their have been a lot of acorns falling. We opted for an electric site, the full hookup areas seemed more congested. We do hear road noise here, but no human noise. It quiets at night, so biggie for us. Bathhouse is super clean & modern, with hot showers. I have enjoyed some short hikes that begin at the bottom of our loop. Picturesque with a creek running through it. Convenient to Gettysburg, Shippensburg, Chambersburg.

Wont stay again. Hoosier loop is further from highway 30 and probably much quieter.

This park is really nice. Has nice bathrooms and showers. But beware, most sites are very sloped and short. The website does not clarify how sloped the sites are. Do not recommend for rv’s more than 25 ft.

First trip of the year and this place did not disappoint. Close to I-81 with good road surfaces in the park. We stayed in Hosack Run Campground where pets are allowed. There is also Chinquapin Hill Campground that does not allow pets. Backing into the site was tight but we got in after a couple tries. Site was level left to right with the slightest slope to the rear. I used no leveling blocks. Power, water, and sewer were easy to reach. The water hydrant anti siphon valve was leaking badly so we contacted the host and within 45 minutes the camp staff had it repaired. Wonderful service. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. The table was weathered but in good condition and the fire ring was positioned to the rear of the site. The bath house is only a couple years old and clean.
On the park and in the connected state forest are opportunities for fishing, boating, and hiking. The hiking trails connect to the Appalachian trail and there are a variety of trails with varying difficulty.
Cell service was spotty with one bar (T-Mobile) and there was no Wi-Fi that we found.

We stayed just one night at this CG since we were traveling through the area. This was a beautiful PA state park! The park is large, clean and very well maintained. Rangers patrolled through the CG regularly. The sites were exactly the length quoted online (no more and no less) so plan carefully. We selected a full hook-up site but when we arrived, the utilities were extremely far forward on the street side of the camper and we couldn’t use them. Luckily, a fellow camper had an additional power cord and we were able to borrow that for the night. Also, bring leveling blocks because a number of the sites weren’t level, especially front to back, although they were beautifully paved and groomed. We stayed in this park during the week so it was quiet in the park. (Route 30 – the road leading to the campground is busy all the time and it is loud.) The bathhouse on our loop was brand new. It was perfectly clean and spacious, with plenty of shower and toilet stalls. Bring your bug spray! The mosquitos and gnats were awful!

This will summarize two stays - November 2021 and April 2022:
Really nice campground overall.
Stayed in Hosack run loop; There is a mixture of tent and hook up sites, and among the hook ups, most are electric only, but there are a few water plus electric mixed in. I really like the commingling of tents and some big rigs - you see every type of camper. Ours had electric only; used site 177 and it was good. We also camped in site 176, which is OK, but a little unlevel, and a manhole cover right under the picnic table. 177 was better.
Most sites are reasonably separated, but kind of close by state park standards. Tent sites are nicely placed and pretty private.
The wood is pay by honor system in a little hut so nice and dry, and a nice bonus - the host keeps old newspapers and a bin of bark and small thin wood splittings that make starting your fire really easy.
As mentioned elsewhere, the bath house is new and nice. Bathhouse has a dish washing station which was closed due to low temperature in early April and early November. There are a couple of pump wells available to get some water in cold weather.
There is a nice hiking trail that leaves right from the campground that goes by a stream and leads to other areas of the park.
Gettysburg is about 25 minutes away.
