Blown away by this place. Great sites on a beautiful part of the lake. We were in site 55. Tons of room for our 35 ft travel trailer. Only down side was that the site was on the main road. But a great place at a great price.

Campground has several bath houses, a beach, playground and a day use area next door. Our site was well shaded, not water front and not too close to our neighbors, but you definitely know they are there. Plenty of room for 2 other cars also. The park attendants were great and did a good job with check in on a very busy Friday night.

A typical Corps of Engineers park - huge, level sites in a well maintained campground. Lots of great sites along the waterfront here and also a large number of nice, non-electric sites, many of which have water spigots. Bath house is somewhat out-dated but clean considering its age.
Our site took a little extra maneuvering to get into because the drop down from the asphalt road surface to the grass shoulders was several inches high on both sides of the road right by our site. This made it a little tricky to get into the site while avoiding the drop-off on both sides of the road with the front wheels of our crew cab, long bed truck. This could be an issue in many, but certainly not all, areas in this park.
Some really good hiking about a 20 minute drive away on the Pine Mountain Trail near Cartersville. Plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby.
Another great COE value.

All campsites are orientated to the water in the lower camping area and are typically open but large so you have some privacy, great swimming and fishing. The upper is more wooded some with access to the lake.

This is a Corps of Engineers campground. Check in was easy. If you have a National Parks pass you get 50% off, regular fee is $28. We liked site 14, it's towards the back of the campground. . The site was a little tough to maneuver at first, but we figured it out and now think it's the best site in the campground. We have a 41' Fifth Wheel with a Dodge Dually. Also, there is a nice beach in the day use area and lots of thing to do in the area. Tellus Science Museum was great.
The only bad thing is no sewer hookup. The dump station is easy to use.

Sweetwater Campground is a Corp of Engineers facility located on Altoona Lake in Canton, GA. The campground is very nice. We were here during Spring Break so there were a lot of kids and they made it very noisy, even after quiet hours. If not for all the kids I would have give this 5 stars. Sites are very large and spacious. Ours was a large pull through and very level. Had a gravel area with a grill, fire pit and picnic table. The view to the lake was beautiful. The sites between us and the lake were tent sites so we were not blocked.
Two minor draw backs for us as full timers:
1. There are only two sites that have sewer hookups.
2. The cellular coverage for both Verizon and AT&T were very weak. I work from the RV so cell signal is important.
But all-in-all we had a nice stay and would come back again if we needed to be in the Atlanta area.

Visited Sweetwater Park and did a quick drive thru while visiting family in the area (6/2020). Nice park but was disappointed to discover only 2 sites had sewer hookup and they were just inside the gate and not near the lake. One site was being used by the host.
