What is the drive down from I 40 like? Are we in much of the mountains and curves at this point?

This was a good stay for the price. It’s right under the pattern for the local airport so you’ll get some aircraft flying over on pretty days. I’m a pilot and aviation need so l kinda liked it. We had a concrete pad on the creek for $44. Cable was not to great and the WiFi had good coverage but was pretty slow at around 5 mbits.

Sites are very level. Bath house is clean. Well kept, easy to maneuver in. Arcade, bounce pad, dog park, large covered picnic area, quick to get to local attractions. Propane on site. Check in was efficient though not friendly and no one answers the phone at the office.

This park is about 10 miles off I-40, and we were only staying one night. It was quiet in December with COVID restrictions so traffic was very light. We wouldn’t stay here during a typical season with hair raising traffic insanity. Check-in was not overly friendly but efficient. It’s a big park with many seasonals. Not especially pretty this time of year with all the trees bare. We had a gravel/grass pull-thru that was just long enough for our 45er and toad. It had rained so the site was pretty wet. Satellite would not work due to trees. WII FI – meh. Fairly quiet at night with the occasional siren or jake brake. There are quiet a few extra curricular activities, and they have a full size RV wash like a Blue Beacon. Not sure how much it costs because I couldn’t get anyone to answer the phone! Anyway, it was fine for one night.

This place was great. Although, a little crowded for COVID times. Our site backed up to the river and seemed secluded even though the park is located off a main hwy. The kids loved the bouncy pillow and playground.

Our site was on the river and peaceful. Campground was full but quiet. Nice place to relax. Conveniently located to attractions yet far enough away to be relaxed. Our site had not been cleaned but when I called they came right out and cleaned it up.

We just purchased a new TT from Knoxville, and being that's a bit of a drive for us, we decided to camp nearby for a few nights (to check things out) before heading home. We were meeting up with my parents during the trip as well, and we settled on River Plantation due to the good reviews. We were so pleased with our choice!
If you're wanting to be close to the Pigeon Forge/Sevierville "action", this is a great spot, BUT the thing we loved was that you don't feel like you're in the mix of things. The campground sits down away from the main drag a good bit, so once you're in the campground, you really don't realize how close you are to the hustle and bustle of PF.
Check-in was super, and due to some complications with our camper delivery and travel delays, we were a little late getting to the campground, but the folks checking us in couldn't have been more helpful.
We changed our plans a bit last minute, so we stayed 2 nights in spot 408, right on the river, and then moved to site 13 to be beside of my parents for 3 nights. Both sites were plenty roomy with paved pads, picnic table, and fire ring. Site 408 was right on the river, and site 13 isn't on the river (fairly close, though) but is a Signature site. On the day of our move, there were some morning storms rolling through, and being this was our first breakdown and move, we were a bit nervous about moving during storms. We called the office to ask if we could take just a bit longer than the normal checkout time, and they were super accommodating, which we appreciated so much (we ended up being out by checkout time, but it was nice that they were flexible with us).
The RV park itself has a ton of options for kids...bouncing pad, pickle ball, basketball, very nice pool with small lazy river, etc. Our 13 year old enjoyed the options. She also enjoyed that the WiFi worked well (at least for us...I've seen otherwise with some reviews).
The main RV park loop around the campground is paved and nice and wide and sites are long enough to keep your vehicle in front of your rig without having any issue with being in the road. With being newbies we appreciated how easy the sites were to back into and how spacious everything was. There is a HUGE area at the park office for rigs to park out of the way of other incoming/outgoing traffic.
For the cons...the park is very busy with lots of golf carts. It never really bothered us at all, but if that's an issue for you, be aware of that, and it can cause things to be a little more noisy (though we never thought it was excessively noisy at all). For site 13, there is evidently some sort of plant behind that area, and in the mornings, in particular, there was a good bit of noise from there. Not really anything in the campground's control, but if you're sensitive to noises in the mornings or a late sleeper, just shoot for booking on the other side of the park.
We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when in the area. Great park!

It rained several times during our stay but the gravel didn't get muddy or messy and the grass held up well. Stayed in spot 76.
We arrived in Pigeon Forge the last week of October without a reservation. All the RV parks laughed at us and informed us it was the busiest week of the year because of the fall leaves changing colors in the national park and surrounding area. So we spent the first night at the KOA in the tightest fitting site we've ever seen. We couldn't believe how many RVs they crammed in together. As soon as we parked we continued calling RV parks and found River Plantation just down the road for much cheaper and way more space!
Half the park is permanent (or long-term) residents. The rest is revolving stays like ours.
We played at the playground and used the basketball court for a while and kicked a ball around on the grass. We didn't see many other kids around but we had fun letting the kids loose with clean, safe facilities.

River runs behind it, although we didn't didn't get the chance to go down and see it. There is a small camp store on site where you check in, has some RV parts chips, sodas and ice. Not much other than that. Our pad was a pull thru with crushed rock, it had a cement pad next to it with a picnic table. The spot also had a fire ring and a small grassy area. It had 2 sewer outlets, I suppose so you could decide which way you'd like to pull in. Going on the Veterans Hwy which runs behind all the tourist traps on the parkway you can get to Dollywood or Gatlinburg fairly quickly. They did have Wi-Fi, we were fairly far from the office but got a couple of bars. Cable was clear with 19 stations. This is a fantastic place for families with kids 12 and under, there are kids EVERYWHERE. Crawling over and under you in the lazy river

Their new pool, hot tub and lazy river were very relaxing and most welcoming. The parks has cable as well as wifi though out. There's also an RV wash service on site. Their spots on the Little Pigeon river are worth the extra $$ if you want more privacy. Site 17 and 18 are probably my favorite but any on the 401-442 loop are great.
