Our first visit to Bushnell. The park is dated with quiet a few run down long-term RV’s. The Escapees staff is always kind and helpful, but the park has a run down appearance. Getting new DL’s and registering our vehicle was a breeze, the tax office staff was great. Enjoyed the Sand Cranes wintering in Florida as neighbors.

I have used this park several times and endured the rude managers because let’s face it, it’s cheap but not worth the BS and unprofessional office mgr. and corporate doesn’t care either. Their sewage pipe was not draining and they did not repair or seem to care! I will never use this park again—go to a state park where you have plenty ... more

Their sewage pipe was not draining and they did not repair or seem to care! I will never use this park again—go to a state park where you have plenty of space and privacy and working dump stations.

Spent 2 weeks here with my family. Great prices available. Quiet and out of the way while still close to many things. Basic park with just the basics for what you need. Mostly older couples with not many kids around. A little toad noise, but not bad. Will definitely come back.

If you are looking for a nice, quiet, inexpensive, meets your basic needs place, then stop scrolling. Full hookups at all sites with 30/50 at the majority of sites. This is a quiet & fairly secluded place to stay. If you are looking for lots of amenities and perks, keep scrolling. If you are looking for a nice, quiet, inexpensive, meets your basic needs place, then stop scrolling. Full hookups at all sites with 30/50 at the majority of sites. Coin operated laundry, propane refilled, smart scale, and dog park round out the amenities. Located in the middle of nowhere but a quick hop onto I75 will get you anything you need quickly. Not a far drive to Orlando or Tampa if you are looking for things to do. Pretty area that is restful and relaxing. Just what everyone needs after a long day of adventures. Great prices for Escapees members and non-members.

Great little Escapees park offering 4 point weighs. Dog run and extremely clean restrooms. Nice laundry. Sites level. Many nicely shaded. Verizon and T-Mobile reception good.

We were new at RV camping. Our visit to Sumter Oaks RV Camp was our very first RV experience. The staff here are very accommodating. Tracy was very patient and professional with us as we asked her many questions. Linda(a seasoned staff member) came to assist in setting up our registration. All were so efficient.
Upon our arrival on the first day at this park, Linda and Charlie greeted us with smiling faces. They carefully guided my husband into our RV lot. They, along with some friendly tenants directed him into our lot with ease. We are confident that the staff here will make our stay very pleasant. This park is well maintained. It is also very peaceful, however I75 is right down the road so there is a little noise from traffic at night. There are stores, restaurants, gas stations, banks, post office and more off of exit 301 or 7 miles down I75N “Welcome Home” indeed is the sign at the front entrance.

Stayed here for the month of November, 2020. Rate reflects monthly rate, plus a little over a $1.50 a day for electric. Quite a large mix of sites here -- some have only 30 amp, most are back-ins, though there are some pull thru sites. Being a former mobile home park, there are even some "pull-in" sites which are strictly for motor homes, since the concrete patio pad would be on the wrong side for a backed-in trailer. In any event, many sites are somewhat hairy to get into. Our site was between a couple of trees with a large tree across the roadway which was an issue for our truck to clear. All-in-all though, with a little patience backing in should go OK. Once done with that, reaching your utilities could be an issue. Be advised that an extension cord of some type could be needed. Some sites are tight for space, while others are huge. Ours was about average I would say -- just large enough to have a decent degree of separation from the neighbors. Very easy access here off of Interstate 75. Interior roads could be a bit bumpy in spots and are a little tight for maneuvering a large rig into a site in some places where trees would also be an issue. Nice large patio areas for sitting out. A big benefit is they allow folks to wash their rigs here, something we have found many places won't allow. Propane is also available on-site and the laundry room is clean and most reasonably priced. Unfortunately, there is a quarry about a mile away, and large trucks break the quiet starting around 6am and continuing from time to time for most of the day until dark. If you listen closely enough, you can here the Interstate in the distance. On the upside, sandhill cranes are readily heard here, as are numerous owls, which we have heard at all hours of the day.
This park is best for cultivating social relationships. The folks here are super friendly and most are either part-year travellers or fulltimers, so there are kindred spirits at nearly every turn. While many formal social activities were muted due to the Covids, there was plenty of small "side" activities to join in on if you kept your ear to the ground. Morning coffee was a thing as was Wednesday evening Bingo, which was the only event in the Activity Center. No library exchange or anything like that in that facility due to the pandemic. A pay Wi-Fi service began while we were here, but it is spotty at best and something I wouldn't want to pay for. Cell signals are certainly good enough here to do all the surfing you may need to do. It is almost impossible to get reliable reception for OTA TV channels. You can get some at some times, but they could freeze up or go away in a blink. Sort of frustrating to be into watching something, then suddenly have it go away.....
This is an update to what I posted in January. We extended our say here thru April and we are suffering through the worst caterpillar infestation I have ever seen or heard of. The critters started turning up in mid-March and as I write this on March 31, they are unrelenting. The first signs are tiny, solid black orbs which begin to fall from the trees. The volume gets so bad, sitting out under your awning the noise would have you would swear it is raining!! We understand this is the caterpillar poop. The REALLY bad part is the fact that once these black balls get wet (from rain, dew, or your rooftop AC condensation) they release a coffee colored liquid which turns everything brown. Shortly after the onslaught began, we had an overnight rain -- climbing up to the roof was sobering -- my nice white roof which I had scrubbed clean back in January was now COMPLETELY BROWN. A simple rinsing with the hose does nothing to rid the brown plague. It seems only another good scrubbing with the proper chemicals (once the plague is over -- reportedly in early April) will get it clean. The brown roof goo tends to drip down the sides, which if you have a reasonably recent coat of wax should prove to be a fairly simple clean-up. But, it will be a big job since most of your rig will have brown streaks. It seems those lucky enough to be camped away from the live oaks can escape the brown plague.
The caterpillars are another story. They are everywhere -- on the rig, on the awnings, on the steps, on the patio mat, on the tires, on the tow vehicle's tires, and worst of all ON ME on occasion!! They make small cocoons which have the consistency and properties of a very heavy glue. (It's best to try to eliminate the buggers before they start cocooning). Many theories and formulas have been circulating the park to rid sites of these incessant beasts but some things only seem to give temporary relief while others have no effect whatsoever.
All in all our time here was most enjoyable, EXCEPT FOR MARCH. We would recommend a stop here for any length of time, but MAKE 100 PERCENT CERTAIN YOU ARE NOT HERE IN MARCH!! I have downgraded my overall grade from 4 stars to 3 due to the caterpillars. Really, it is a great place and community if you are not here in March.

Pros:
- Amazing nature and wildlife: Sandhill Cranes, Egrets, frogs, anole lizards, Cypress trees & knees, and a pack of donkeys visit near the fence from the farm next door
- Extremely friendly, yet totally non-intrusive camper neighbors - we actually felt welcomed and received many genuine smiles, local tips, and invites to socialize (at a safe distance, of course, due to covid)
- Huge off-leash dog park - very clean and well maintained with a fresh water and a chest of dog toys to borrow
- Beautiful, natural campground makes it feel like you are doing more than just glamping in an RV
- Propane refills offered on site through the main office - very quick, easy and affordable
Cons:
- No wifi or cable (as of mid-August 2020)... we were told wifi was going to be installed soon, but not exact ETA
- Tons of ants (due to the natural setting), and some of them bite, so bring bug spray
- Parking spaces are not very level and it may be difficult to reach hookups as their locations vary at each site

We just retired and became full timers and needed to set up our domicile in Florida. This park helped us to that end and was certainly cost effective for full hook ups. * Very cost effective park to stay at for a month - paid the electric separate;
* many large old shade trees at many of the sites which really helped us during the hot October on record!
* There are many folks who 'lease' their sites so that results in a sense of community at this park;
* Wonderful lending library, a full room of books made available which we took advantage of;
* Sites are close to a cypress swamp which afforded us to lots of animal life (river otters, birds of prey, egrets, ibis' - no sightings of any alligators);
* super friendly staff;
* close to biking/walking trail (Withalachoee) which was approximately 46 miles long;
* close to Fort Cooper for bird walks on their nature trails;
* close to town of Bushnell which has most everything needed
* wonderful laundry facilities that are very cost effective!
* availability of propane fill on site;
* property next to the park is owned by a person to gives refuge to homeless donkeys (herd of 11) that are super friendly and love apples and carrots.
CONS
* the interior roads have lots of pot holes;
* close to a mining operation so there is truck activity early in the morning (starting at 5 a.m.) that can be heard if parked close to County Road 673.

Nice quiet place to stop for the night. No usable AT&T service at all.
So glad we stopped as 30 minutes out we blew a hole in the outside passenger duely tire..
