Was a must stop to OR from Sonoma. Highly recommended by people we met in Sedona. Arrived around 4 pm, the strong Pacific coast with it's moist forest instantly transformed our senses and mood. Had a magical evening on the point in the mist and clouds. To finally settle in close to midnight around a fire with some warm seafood chowder,... more

We stayed here in the off-season (end of April) when only a portion of the sites were open, but we still somehow managed to get one of the few sites with enough sun for solar power. We stayed here in the off-season (end of April) when only a portion of the sites were open, but we still somehow managed to get one of the few sites with enough sun for solar power. Most are deep in the woods though so be prepared to listen to lots of generator noise. As a few other reviews have mentioned, the sites are small and all have annoying, large rocks in the parking area that make them even smaller. Our site was listed as being suitable for a 31' RV and our 25' trailer just barely fit.
All of that really doesn't matter though because what you're really here for are the beach and the ocean views! No views from any campsites, but there are numerous hiking paths offering up ocean views plus an incredible beach at the bottom of the cliff.

Patrick's Point SP was a lovely place to spend a few nights. Site 100 is across the parking lot from the ocean which is about as close as one can camp. Patrick's Point SP was a lovely place to spend a few nights. Site 100 is across the parking lot from the ocean which is about as close as one can camp. No spots are directly on the ocean with an ocean view. Quiet camping and a short walk down to the water.
Our 27FB Airstream fit snuggly in spot 100 but parking was a tight squeeze because of the giant rocks that line to the road and the campsite. There's enough space in the site itself, but it's hard to back into due to the giant immovable rocks. We stayed in February and were in the trees so had no sun for our solar.
No hookups and no dumping available. Freshwater is available via the spigot in the visitor information parking lot via the red hydrant. In a pinch, there is fresh water near the restrooms near site 100 but it doesn't have a hose hookup.
Site 105 was just down the road, looked much easier to back into, and had sun nearly all day. Would have been a better sight but was already booked.
Great internet via AT&T! Enough for video conferencing.

We randomly drove into the campground without a plan a few years back. It was a ranger assigned campsite and for some reason he put us in a tight, narrow spot - there were loads of empty sites that would have worked better for us - we have a long truck and a 19' Rpod. Next time, I would ask if we could walk the loop to find a better ... more

Next time, I would ask if we could walk the loop to find a better spot. Still good though! I enjoyed the walk out to the point, the trees & the quiet - very few people here in September. The campground below down by the beach did have a lot of campers though!

We were in site 105. Easy to back in. Plenty wide and deep. Be aware the dump station has been closed for some time. No plans to reopen. I found a dump station at the Mad River RV park in Arcata. Hours 9:30-4:30. Cost $10. They prefer cash. As far as fresh water to fill your tanks there is a spigot in the parking lot of the park’s visi... more

Sites were not on top of each other. Trinidad State Beach and Moonstone Beach are dog friendly. Many places to eat between the park and McKinnleyville. Safeway in McKinnleyville for supplies. Coin showers and flush toilets are open.

The park itself is beautiful. Sites are in the large conifer forest canopy. Mostly Sitka Spruce. Lush & green with lots of ferns, ground covers, and in the Fall huckleberries and blackberries. The reason it gets some points off from us is because it is very dog unfriendly. No dogs on any trails, paths, lookouts, basically everywhere. And over the years the deferred maintenance has piled up. Downed trees left for years, broken railings, steps, picnic tables, etc...But the no dogs (even on leash) is why we just never stay more than overnight. We were first come-first serve , which is ok for ONE night only.

We love this state campground. Lots to do in the park as well as around the area. Get reservations if you want to stay longer than a day. Trinidad is just down the road for suoplies and exploring.

Nice large sites that come equipped with a box for items and a fire ring. Where I stayed is in the midst of very tall trees and lush vegetation around the back of my site. As I walked the park I noticed that there are varying degrees of privacy to the different spaces. Nice hiking with a beautiful view of the ocean. If you are tent camping do not use 0-78, I picked the only site that wasn't level and had to put my tent on the parking pad, which still wasn't bad. Great spot if your in an RV due to the size of the space.

We arrived after 5pm and due to my disabled veteran card we snagged an ADA site - one of a few with electric hookup in the Agate Campground. Camp host said "its after 5pm, grab any site that is marked available". Showers were a little sketchy so we passed on showering there; however the restrooms were clean!
