Stella Mare RV Resort was very nice. Everything was easy to access, everything was clean, and the pool and splash pad were great for the kids. I did a video which you can see below.

Site was fine, 25 was a back in next the the horse pasture. I didn’t see a bad site in the place, and all are more than long enough for even the biggest rigs. Utilities all were fine.
Park is a little further away form all the island stuff, but it is fine. Traffics was a little annoying at times.
The issues:
1) In 2019, yes we expect acceptable WiFi. The WiFi was an absolute mess. It did work for a few minutes at a time, but then would drop out. The parks answer was “Call the provider” which is Tengo, who as completely useless. These issues are not endpoint issues, they are network engineered to small for the application issues. Sorry, but some of us do have to work while we travel, and we can’t all just get away with cellular internet...
2) Bathroom Design: There are two bath houses, both with similar design. They are kept very clean, and are fairly new (as it most of the park). Both bath houses also have laundry in both the Men’s and Women’s restrooms. The issue is the very “Exposed” design. The back restrooms had 2 showers, one handicapped accessible, the other a standard shower stall, then a small changing area, quite a ways form the showers. The front one had 2 additional showers and a larger curtained off changing area. In either case, I am just not much of an exhibitionist... Again, 2019, this park is barely a couple years old, the people who designed the bathrooms clearly never used a public shower... Why wouldn’t you just make multiple single stall “who cares what gender” bathrooms and be done with it? And why would you put laundry in 4 places? Make one big laundry room... Just a stupid design all around.
Fix those 2 things, and I’d give them 5 stars....

We originally didn’t want to spend the $$ but now we are glad we did. We will definitely be back!

Rate reflected is weekly rate. We arrived around dark and were greeted at the stop sign, given an information packet, and escorted to our site. Hookups were easy. Transitions from road to site were abrupt. Our neighbors were long-termers and were really noisy, but that's not the resort's fault. Lots of people doing maintenance, washing vehicles, and building things at their sites, kindof surprising for a resort. The clubhouse has a beautiful deck and is up high. The bathrooms are up there and there is a laundry room in each bathroom. I've never been a fan of that because if I need hubby to grab the laundry, he can't when it's in the ladies room. In our case here, he had to do the laundry in the mens room because the ladies room laundry was always busy. Tried to use the elevator to take the laundry up but couldn't figure out how to get it to work, so had to haul it up all.those.stairs. The big playground was great, especially for our older boys. It's hard to find playgrounds that have equipment for older kids. The pool was not heated and was absolutely freezing, but beautiful. The hot tub was disgusting with a foul odor when we first arrived, but the next day was clean with people enjoying it. After seeing (and smelling) it the day before, we weren't going to risk it. A splash pad is being built and they broke ground while we were there. It should be nice when done.
Nice location on Galveston Island. Out of town, so very quiet. Not really anything to do within walking distance, a burger joint and a bar is all. Galveston Island State Park is a few miles away and offers beachcombing, kayaking, and bird watching. The beach has several public access points with paid parking. Galveston is a few miles away and has everything you need. Lots of good places to eat. Definitely try The Mosquito Cafe and sister bakery Patty Cakes. The lemonade cake is to die for. Take the short, free ferry to Port Boliver and keep an eye out for dolphins. Go over to Pelican Island to see the submarine and the sunken ship. Houston and Space Center Houston are just an hour or so away. Stop at Buc-ee's to and from for a refreshing drink and snack.

We were some of the first to stay at Stella Mare last fall, and to be honest, we would do better to come back and look at again. Much was under construction when we stayed, but we had an event to attend, and Galveston was invaded by 500,000 motorcycles for the Lone Star Bike Rally that weekend, so we were happy to have a place to stay.
Some amenities were still under construction, but we weren't at all inconvenienced. The reservation system was easy to work with, and check-in was painless.
The park is very nicely done, with large, level, sites and easy access. Even on the bike weekend, there was very little noise. Management is friendly, and the campground hosts are always available to lend a hand.
There is a large pool and deck close by that has a view of the Gulf, and if you're a beach person, beach access is right across the highway.
We'll come back next year and give it a better look, but we enjoyed our stay.

Rate reflects 10% discount (AAA), cheapest site option (back in)
Pros:
- clean, new bathrooms
- new washers and dryers
- level, long sites
- friendly staff, both in person and over the phone
- professional reservation experience
Cons:
- lots of traffic noise from Stewart Rd; on MLK Monday morning I counted 11 heavy trucks in 10 minutes (you hear and feel them thunder by from inside your rig); I would recommend a site somewhere in the middle of the park to try to avoid the traffic noise
- laundry located in women's and men's bathrooms (not convenient if two people of different genders are sharing the duties; not fun to be in the bathroom waiting for your load to finish; half the machines not accessible at any given time as you have to stick to your gender)
- no cable (but could get all the basic channels over the air)
- park is still working on its "phase II" of construction; will probably be a lot better once everything is in place and the palm trees get a bit more lush!

My family and I are full time RVers. We stayed here for a period of 5 months and this is what we have to say. First off lets pin point the good things. It is in a great location, has a beautiful pool and playground, and is well maintained. Now for the bad list. The WiFi is horrible. We had to use our hotspot on our cell phones most of the time and even paying for an upgrade did not help. There is no cable. The spots are too close together unless you pay top dollar for premier sites (which are the only ones with picnic tables btw). As far as the bathrooms I found that the hot water did not last long and that the code would change and not be told what it was. Most of the staff are rude and inconsiderate. They pick and choose who they get onto. If you are a weekender then its fine but full time lets hope you fit into their "click". We had complaints of my dogs barking when it was their crew circling my trailer looking for poop causing them to bark when we were not at home. We were accused of not cleaning up our dogs poop when the 6 trailers around mine all shared a common area. One of the staff actually told us there was a watch list for certain spaces that they were told to keep a special eye on. When I purchased my new travel trailer I was coerced into moving it into a spot across the park from where I was at. After living in the spot for 3 weeks I caught the neighbor, who was a work camper, taking pics of my dog, rv, kids and surrounding area. When I confronted the office about the peeping tom worker I was told that he was told to do so by the staff and that we were not a "good fit" for their resort and needed to leave. I have always been very polite and tried working with them on multiple occasions and just felt like I was being "picked on". I will never stay in this park again and will warn everyone I know to stay away unless you're only in for a weekend.
