We were disappointed to find the bathrooms and showers closed for remodeling in August. If we had known that in advance we would of booked somewhere else. We were disappointed to find the bathrooms and showers closed for remodeling in August. If we had known that in advance we would of booked somewhere else. Also checked in online as we received several notices to do so. We arrived and proceeded to our given spot. A few hours later we had a knock on our door. Apparently a new camper had arrived and felt we were in their spot. The new camper was wrong. Just don’t understand why management needed our information to confirm the other camper had the wrong date?? It is a clean campsite with level spots but we wouldn’t stay again.

We were on our way to Michigan and had trailer problems. I had reserved a space on line so I called to cancel my reservation. They were nice and booked me for the next day in case we got the problem fixed. Nice level concrete spots.

I called last minute for an overnight spot on a Saturday night. They were very nice and offered me spot A4 which was right upfront fairly level concrete pad with a huge yard on both sides. I called last minute for an overnight spot on a Saturday night. They were very nice and offered me spot A4 which was right upfront fairly level concrete pad with a huge yard on both sides. Great for BIG RIGS. This was a long spot. We did have to back in but that was not a big deal. They give Good Sam’s and Passport America. So the lot went from $75 to $57. There was a cute little store a pool that was ready for swimmers and a nice little play ground.
I will return and do recommend this campground if your going near the Chicago area.

I travelled here with a 35’ 5th wheel, long bed pickup and parked in the site #51, an E only (30A), BI site for $28/night with the Good Sam discount. Roads were asphalt and the sites are gravel. I travelled here with a 35’ 5th wheel, long bed pickup and parked in the site #51, an E only (30A), BI site for $28/night with the Good Sam discount. Roads were asphalt and the sites are gravel. This site was sloped uphill and side-to-side requiring 2 boards to get me level. Totally open to the sun. There were no obstructions as I backed in, but I did go off the road a bit to make the tight angle. The site had a picnic table and fire ring. 2 bars LTE with Verizon, speed test showed 0.4 mbps download speed. No wifi and I didn’t check OTA channels. Site #52 was my favorite spot – tucked into the woods with more privacy. Many sites were plenty long but had difficult angles for a larger rig like mine to get into. My picks with some shade or total shade would be: in the first loop - 8, 12, 24, 33, 52, 53, second loop – outer side of the ring was better (inside the ring the rigs were very close to others behind them) 81, 86, 89, 93, 95, 97, 104, 108, 109, 110, 113, 114, 115, 116, 120. One thing to note is that the campground is separate from the main area of the park and roads are narrow so walking or biking is not really safe in my opinion. Also, fill with water before you come. The dump station was hard to enter with a larger rig. I would stay here again if I was in the area.

“Great For A One night Stopover Or Longer!”

Overall Rating
This was a lovely little campground and perfect for our one night stopover. Easy access for big rigs, spacious pull through spots. 50 amp, full hookup. Plenty of parking for our extra vehicle. Kids appreciated the nice big pool. Friendly, helpful staff.

I stayed here for 1 night - site #12 in the west loop. The staff was friendly and the grounds seemed to be well maintained. I loved that it was so close to Starved Rock Park (5 minutes). I stayed here for 1 night - site #12 in the west loop. The staff was friendly and the grounds seemed to be well maintained. I loved that it was so close to Starved Rock Park (5 minutes). Electricity was available at the camp site. I wish that there was water at each site but luckily, we were able to fill up directly across from our campsite. If you have your hose connected, be sure to pull the diverter down so water will be redirected into the hose. There was a dump station at the campground entrance but we had issues with the hose working. Given the location, I would stay here again if I were to visit the park. I gave this 3 stars because I was comparing it to other campgrounds I've stayed at and the amenities they've offered.

This campground has wonderful spacious sites for big rigs. They are under construction but it did not effect our stay at all. Great hiking trail and very quiet and peaceful campground.
