"Free camping in exchange for sales pitch, got our moneys worth."

Formerly a typical family campground with seasonal campers, it has now been bought out by Venture Out resorts. We signed up for a voucher for 21 nights of free camping at an RV expo in exchange for listening to their 2 hour sales pitch to buy in as members ($10,000+). As other reviews have mentioned, this was a very unpleasant sales pitch that...

"Dumpy And Inferior To Other Options"

active starinactive starinactive starinactive starinactive star
The other nearby options are better for seeing St Louis. This park is in a sketchy area in the wrong part of town with a lot of traffic noice and train whistles into the night. Staff is also overall rude; they like to leave early, and do not like to lift a finger to keep the campground tidy. Lots of year round “guests” leave trash all over their...

They texted detailed directions on our arrival day. Greeted us and guided into our site. Utilities are solid and clean, gravel site very level. So convenient off of I55 for a one night stay. I’ll definitely stay again if I need a stop near Lincoln, IL.

What a jewel of a campground! We found this on Campendium and decided to go the extra distance from original plan in Davenport. Since we stayed at the end of September, the campground was very quiet except for the ghouls and goblins, set up for the Halloween season! The owners were extremely friendly and helpful, telling us the best sites...

"Love It Here"

active staractive staractive staractive staractive star
We stayed here on our way to Chicago to see our son and loved it so much we stayed on our way back. Great campground and close to some wonderful parks and historic places. But there are enough trails in the park you don’t have to leave to get some peaceful exercise. We’ll be back
