We were planning to stay with family in the area, but after a torrential down pour we ended up getting stuck in the mud, so we called around late in the afternoon and found St. Johnsville Campsite. I explained our situation to her and she said it was no problem. She had a couple of spots open and to call her when we arrived.
I gave her a call upon arrival and she offered us site 4, a pull-thru, and she said she would be by in the morning. I went and paid in the morning as we were getting ready to go. I thanked her for being able to accommodate us last minute. We had full hookups, but only plugged in the electric. No problems.
There is a train that runs by the campground. I didn't hear it, but my husband said it kept waking him up. This campground is right next to the Erie canal, just off the 90 (a toll road).
We were there for such a short time, we didn't use cell data or Starlink internet. I just know is that we had signal on Verizon.

Looks to be right off highway but it’s 9 miles from off-ramp on nice rural roads. Campground is nice, quiet (except for trains), has a boat ramp, and the usual facilities. Some forks are here for season. You are right on the water!

Wonderful little county park campground, right on the Erie Canal. Clean bathrooms and a tidy little laundry room. Had a full hook-up pull thru site, super easy with plenty of space. Close to the small town for some basics if you need them. Up the road a bit is a Little Falls if you need more than the basics. Close to the Canal Trail, just over the bridge. If you follow the trail east about .75 of a mile you will find the historic Lock #33, definitely a neat bit of history. As others have mentioned, you are RIGHT next to an active train line, if you are a light sleeper this might be bothersome, but for us a non issue.
Note: If you make it to Little Falls, try the Rock Valley brewery, fun spot w/ a great vibe. Also take the Canal trail here as well, find Lock #17. This is a working Lock and is the tallest one in the system, pretty amazing bit of engineering.

It is a small, clean area right on the river. Site was FHU, pull thru and clean. It’s nothing fancy and the owner is gradually making improvements to the grounds.
Keep in mind if you are a light sleeper that there is an active train track in the back. We use white noise at night so the trains didn’t bother us.

We snagged a waterfront site for our stay, which was marvelous. Yes, there are train tracks right next to the park - which does add sound to your stay. That did present some challenges for our work day and trying to get in filming. But we managed.
The harbormaster of this combo RV park and marina was extremely welcoming and helpful. The newer bathhouse and laundry were spotless. Decent cell signal on all our carriers.
Overall, loved our stay.

This is a cute little campground offering big rig accessible spaces snuggled between the Erie Canal, a set of active train tracks, and the town's sewer water facilities. We actually quite loved it.
Joe, the harbormaster, was welcoming; he's a great ambassador for the park. The park also hosts docking space for canal boat travelers, offering them shower, restroom, and laundry facilities which are also available to RV park patrons.
Our site was a pull-through closest to the train tracks and therefore did not have waterfront space. It appears many of the waterfront sites might be utilized by more seasonal-type patrons. We had water, 30/50A, and sewer hookups. Sites aren't too close but aren't overly spacious either. The waterfront spaces offer you a view in the front, along with water frontage space.
The Eric Canal Towpath runs along the opposite side of the canal from the campground and is easily accessible. If you turn left coming from the park onto the Towpath and traverse about 1/2 a mile down it, there is an adorable pig farm with friendly pigs who may greet you at the fence. The town of St. Johnsville doesn't have much going, but a CVS and a gas station/convenience store are available.
The train noise is notable, but we weren't miserable because of it. Just expect the train to run through a few times a night and throughout the day. Otherwise, this is a very quiet campground.

The toilets and showers were not especially clean. The biggest detriment is the rail traffic which seemed to run every hour or so during our stay; day or night. This location is also quite a bit further drive from the freeway than we would normally make for a one night stay. I am glad that we stayed at this site, because of the beauty of the river, but we would not return again due to the train traffic.

Free WiFi which allowed streaming most of the time. The harbor master Joe is great. Laundry is inexpensive and the facilities are very clean! Easy to get in and out of even with a large rig. It’s fun to watch the boats go by and is a relaxing place. It’s very convenient for a stopover. The town is small and quiet with a few friendly restaurants close. You will hear trains which are very close but they add to the experience if you ask me. Didn’t keep me up at night or anything. Pleasantly surprised for sure.

Utilities at those sites are on left side of the site. (Tow-able trailers allowed to pull in and back out.) Other sites are back-in or pull through. Quiet despite not being far from interstate 90. Occasionally, freight trains came through nearby but I did not find the trains disturbing. (light sleepers might want to use earplugs).Review on another website mentioned nearby water treatment plant. No smells or activity noted during this visit.Clean, spacious bathhouse facilities. The process for check in and payment was very 'low tech'. Apparently the municipality is trying to keep things simple with phone reservation/1st come 1st serve and credit card payment upon arrival. No cash accepted. NOTE: water pressure very high, bringing your own adjustable gauge would be best.
