Got a last minute spot at this park and got there 5 mintes after the phone call. Dealt with several staff members who were all very friendly. Stayed right next to the river that goes around the camp ground. Great spot.

Although the tow truck was supposed to arrive at 9am, they were delayed until after 4. Even though the park was half full, they charged us an extra day. I felt they definitely took advantage of our situation when it was unnecessary. Our group(s) won’t be returning.

It’s true. They charge extra for things like extra people and pets. But that’s not wrong. It’s a nice park. Site 31 means you sleep to the water sounds from the creek and each AM we were greeted by elk in the park. VERY close to RMNP. Your phone may say it has bars, but it doesn’t work like it does. We could walk to the grocery store in 5 minutes and to a nice restaurant called Wayfinder next to the grocery store. I highly recommend breakfast at this restaurant! You’re in luck if you have tmobile. High speeds (300+ mbps) here.

This campground was great for us. It was close to downtown plus close to Rocky Mountain National Park. There was a pool but we didn’t use it because the weather was cool. The laundry facility was clean. There are some shops and a market right up the road. We saw two elk right in our campground which was cool.

We stayed a couple of night here. Fishing on the Big Thompson was great, if you can find the "holes". Campground facilities are well kept, but it is a bit crowded - but it is close to RMNP and Estes Park. We would stay again for sure!

This park is within minutes of Rocky Mountain National Park and downtown Estes Park, so if that's what you're looking for, that's what you'll get here. They have a cute fishing pond, and a pool that was closed due to COVID restrictions. The Big Thompson River does flow right by the campground, it's a fast flowing stream about 20 feet across that you can dip your feet into.
All of the campsites here are VERY close together. The photos on their website don't really show the campsites, and that's probably why. Our campsite was dirt, hookups, and a wooden log that demarcated our designated site boundaries. We barely had room for our 28' trailer, truck, and provided camp table. Larger rigs were using two back-to-back campsites to accommodate their length. Most other reviews I've read for other area campsites are similar, you'll be uncomfortably close to your neighbors and this was no different.

Maybe I could have looked the other way if we had liked Estes Park, but honestly, we have no interest in going back. The downtown is a fake tourist trap with no real charm, CO prices are ridiculous, and while the park is pretty it is packed and just not worth it.
We were able to work via cell signal though.

First time ever having a bad experience with a campground and first time leaving a negative review on anything at all....but its necessary in this case. In 2020, I was planning to stay at Spruce Lake for about 10 days. I had to leave unexpectedly due to personal issues. When I checked out the staff said "we can give you credit for your unused days that you already paid for but did not use. Just call us next year to rebook." Seemed reasonable, and to be clear, I didn't push for that or even ask for it. They offered.
The sites themselves were VERY cramped. I probably would not have returned but for the credit, as its not the type of campground I prefer to visit.
Fast forward to 2021. I called to rebook and the "new" manager said that both the staff and the prior management "made a mistake" and she had a list of people to tell they would not be getting credits that were promised. She also stated that Spruce Lake would not be doing anything to help. No apologies, just blame on the "prior management" and "seasonal staff." I had no expectation of a refund, only for them to honor the credits that were promised (which the new manager acknowledged to many people). Rarely do you find a business so disreputable that they commit to something, agree they committed to it and then just decide not to honor it.
I will obviously not be back.

We reserved 2 nights and was told they charge for 3 but refund the 3rd. We get there and it’s a whole other policy and it’s our fault. It’s was unbelievable and the worst rv experience in Colorado. The owner is from out of state. Please do not give your money to this company. Look elsewhere.

“Warning, Terrible Business practices!!! They do NOT do refunds for ANY reason”
noted 1/25/2023
Warning!!!! Read the fine print in the reservation form or you’ll be out HUNDREDS of dollars. The parent company of this RV park KEEPS all deposits if you cancel your reservation. Awful business practice. If you have to stay here, make sure there is 0% chance of a cancellation.
I had to cancel for a death in the family and they just didn’t care. Sad! Selfish! Awful!
