It's very quiet. If solitude is for you, this is the place. We had no issues driving in. We drove slowly on the highway and chose a path that was pretty level to drive in. The lake bed is very level. We will definitely stay here again!

Absolutely amazing place. My wife and I stayed here for a night and it was so cool! I have never camped on a dry lake before and it felt like being on Mars. Easy to find and easy to drive into.

I did not stay over night but I would have. It’s huge open land if the wind is blowing, it might be strong and noisy. Plenty of space. I visited during the day, traveling from the south towards DV. I missed the first entrance caught the second in time, I would not have found it in the dark. I would stay here in the future.

We really enjoyed our stay on this dried up lake bed. We must have gotten lucky with the wind because it was never very strong. The sunrises were beautiful. We saw only two other groups here, but we were at least over half a mile apart from each other. Super easy to find as it’s right along the highway, but you can drive far enough from the road side that you don’t hear any passing traffic. The dog loved the spot as he could roam to his hearts content. We loved riding our bicycles around too! Our 31 foot class C had absolutely no problem driving, the spot is a gem!

For the last couple of years, we've gone from Kansas to Death Valley during spring break. You can camp just about anywhere here where the BLM roads are, which we did in March 2020 most recently. The first night of the trip we always try to camp here, technically we were north of the actual lake bed you see in other photos (Renoville on Google Maps, 35°33'26.1"N 116°11'10.6"W). We loved it as it wasn't too windy it was completely wide-open and the stars were amazing. A year prior we stayed here as noted on the review I wrote earlier and it was terrible just because of the wind, but again, we were in a Roof Top Tent and not a camper. Desert wind will always be some factor to consider. The next day we woke up and drove east continuing down the BLM dirt road that we turned off on, into the actual Silurian Hills so if you can, try that. We had a Land Cruiser so depending on the size of your camper, you may or may not want to try it. There's a lot to explore and climb up there and depending on where you camp, the wind may be lessened by the hills themselves. I absolutely love this area.

Stayed here for one beautiful, quiet night. If you follow directions from the app, the turn off is about 200 feet farther down but very easy to find. I was the only one there on a Saturday night in March. About 20 min drive north of the 15. The stars were amazing to fall asleep under.

Its quiet and were omly 5 other campers over the 11 days i was there. People would come and go. Had 4 g the entire time. There are a couple 4x4 recreation roads so but i only saw 1 atv on 1 day. There were some remnants of trash from other people so that was a little dissapointing. Also it should be metioned that its got pretty windy at night. That is pretty much the only knock on this spot..It was so quiet I will deff hit this one again👍👍

This is a great place to boondock specially if you have an off road vehicle to get around better on the BLM roads, pipelines and power line roads. You can turn of of SR127 where the large power lines cross the road and go up the road until you get to where there are a bunch of trees and park in the area and be sheltered from some of the wind. I live about 100 miles from here and go there regularly for a weekend. If you follow the power line road east about 10 miles the is a trail that turns off to the right and it goes up to a turquoises mine and the person (his name is Cochise) that has the claim on it lives there and allows you to dig to find turquoises as long as you only use hand tool. The are many other mines in the area that visible and drive able to explore in a 4x4. I haven't been there in about 10 years so Cochise may be dead by now. There were old bulldozer and other equipment that was broken down from the days when it was commercially mined.
You may also see some wild burros if you go north on I-15 and get of at Halleran Spring exit and go west and the spring is 1/4 mile from the freeway and they hang around there. That road will also take you to the Turquoise mine.
When you are back on SR127 and turn off to the left on to the dry lake road and follow it up to the end that is a iron ore mine that is abandon that you can explore that area. It was an open pit mine and you can find sample of the ore with a metal detector or magnet and and also just by picking up the pieces that are just laying in the open.
On the road SR127 between the dry lake and Baker on the north side there is an old cemetery that is about 200 feet off of the road that has tombstones and all.
Most all of the area between Baker and Dumont Dunes is BLM land that is legal to camp on and rid off road. Some of it is part of the Mojave Preserve and camping is also allowed there to with some restrictions, Stop in Barstow at the BLM headquarters and get information on the area. Or if you see a BLM range anywhere stop them and ask them and they are helpful.

I found this particular site from here but I found the area exploring a year ago off of the highway from Baker California. I always wanted to stay in a dry lake bed and camped here a couple nights before our entry into Death Valley. We did not have an actual RV but rather, a Land Cruiser with a rooftop tent. The comments about the wind are no joke. In the tent, this is the worst camping I have ever had just because of the sound of the wind, Easily 50-60 miles an hour. Inside an RV will probably be much different. Other than that, the area is awesome to explore especially when you continue through the lake towards the mountains, there is a lot of BLM land and trails to explore. We climbed a mountain, shotguns, even found an old miners cabin. Look at Owlshead GPS for PLM trail access.
