Pitch was flat, spaced out from other pitches (site seemed big) but no trees for privacy however there wasn't anyone close to us so that wasn't a problem. Drop toilets were clean. Once it turned dusk huge swarms of mosquitos gathered (no fault of camp owners of course) all around us in black clouds buzzing super loud and we were just constantly being bitten. We had to stay in our tent before dark as we couldn't sit out :( I don't think there was water if i recall. One night was enough maybe we were too close to the water. I'd stay again if there wasn't so many dam mosquitoes.

Harsh landscape and harsh locals only vibe. Go to white earth if you want peace, quiet, beauty and cleanliness.

We're glad we decided to risk it and drive a little further. It wasn't free like the others, but was well worth the $12 for a spot we could drive in to and have a nice night on the lake.

Enjoyed our stay for a 1 night stop over. Busy campground, well spread out. We stayed in the 2nd loop. There is a boat launch in this loop as well, with a small beach area. Camp host accepted all forms of camping senior passes for half off making my parents stay $6. Some ada sites are concrete pads.

Kind of a rustic and basic campground but who needs more? It was quiet and pretty windy .... not $10 anymore... $12 a night for a single spot. $24 for a double spot.

The campground is very basic. Nothing special. Easy to get huge rigs in. Tons of space. Cheap. Great views. Easy in , easy out for a night. When we were there it was very windy!!!

We could park our boat right on the beach next to the RV. Campground is great and cheap. Canyon Ferry is often very windy and buggy.

You cannot reserve these sites, they are strictly walk-in, first-come-first-serve. Sites cost $10.00 per day with a 14-day limit. You drive up to a kiosk, put your money in an envelope, and hang your receipt on your campsite post.
Landscaping is pretty much brown with dead grasses and plants. Only minimal trees, and largely no shade. Just the basic campground amenities, picnic table, fire ring, along with pit toilets, trash bins, but they offer a potable water faucet with threaded end. No hookups here, strictly dry camping.
It does manage to stay fairly quiet. It's not a busy campground even during the weekend. There are some sites with lakefront views, but expect these sites to be full. Most of the sites here are large, and can accommodate full sized rigs and fifth-wheels. You get "decent" spacing between your neighbors. Sites are all on dirt-gravel-grass pads. As for cleanliness, the campground looks dumpy, but when you take a good look at it, there's the same amount of trash as most government-run campgrounds.
Verizon 4G coverage comes in good, 4-5 bars.
The closest RV dump is at the Townsend KOA just a 1/10th of a mile away, right next to the campground. Costs $5.00 to dump.
Overall, at $10.00 a day, it's the cheapest place to camp your RV while visiting the Helena, MT area. You get reasonable peace and quiet, good Verizon 4G signal, and the sites are large. I felt pretty secure here, and didn't feel concerned about leaving my trailer unattended while I traveled into town.

This campground is no longer BLM. The new website for reservations (required for all but the last loop where it is FCFS with payment required upon entry) is https://www.thesilosmt.camp/ The website also indicates there is no more FREE off season camping. Am a local (Helena) and this change happened between Sept 2020 and Sept 2021. Sadly and it was apparent that based on the now full fee base the place s pretty empty or was after Labor Day when we went. Definitely check the website for more information. Oh also in the signage, there are no "upon arrival" envelopes for the first 4 loops and you must go online and reserve the spots.
