Location is within a large park area and beside River. Just outside large city so noise is more than anticipated. Facilities are good.

Site price is $29, but after all fees and taxes closer to $36. Not sure what the walk in price would be, i.e. whether or not they charge the reservation service fee. Because of the fees it would make more sense to stay 2-3 days, as there is plenty to do in the area; its about 15 minutes from Albany. Coming from the east, the roads that take you to the entrance go through some rural neighborhood that may cause you to think something's wrong. But you do end up at the entrance, and if you leave going west, you'll understand why maps took you the route it did coming in.

Yes, you can hear some traffic and trains, so it’s not a truly remote experience, but quite nice nevertheless. I found that the sounds quickly faded into the background. The tent camping sites (non-electric) had nice vegetation between them, giving good privacy. We had significant rainfall for several days in a row and all of the tent sites looked okay, with no flooding, just a puddle near the road, away from the tent setup spot on 2 sites (60 and 58).
I’m not an RV/towed camper person, but it looked like there were several pull-through sites on the electric site loops, including some that had big honking rigs in them. The vehicle sites all looked nice, with similar privacy screening and space.
Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. There are two bath houses—1 on each side—each with 2 showers in the women’s bathroom (1 ADA; presumably same in men’s), plus 1 family bathroom with toilet, sink and shower.
Firewood was $6 for about 10 pieces, and was delivered to your site. No ice (out of service), but the campground isn’t far away from town. Staff was very nice. $15 is the weekday rate for non-electric sites; $19 for weekends. Plus the $7.25 reservation fee. Electric sites cost more.
I took stars off on "Noise" because of the train/traffic that was audible; the campground itself was pleasantly quiet while I was there, although that depends on your fellow campers, of course.

Used this campground for a two night rest stop. Really nice! Quiet, well maintained, friendly staff, right on the Hudson River. Sites are very large with shrubbery, so quite private. Lots of highway noise from the two closeby bridges, but not a bad thing. Highly recommend, would def stay here again.

This is a wonderful state park. 2 loops, Creekside and Riverside and we've stayed on both sides over the years. Each had their own bathhouse with spacious showers and hot water. The both CG loops are laid out similarly - the central sites are pull thrus and the outers are back in. These sites are MASSIVE, spacious, and the vegetation in between sites gives a lot of privacy. Huge trees make their home here and it's welcomed during the warmer summer days for some great shade. There are hiking trails here; they mostly flat and simple. Kayaking/boating on the Hudson is possible, just have to get a handle on the tidal flows for the day. Be prepared to share the river with the occasional big boats/barges though.
50/30/20A Elec only site, but there are water spigots all around with a central dump station. Some sites you can fill-up water AFTER you've parked provided you have a longer hose. Firewood can be delivered to the campsite. We were Creekside Site 32 The campground and facilities were very clean and well cared for. Verizon service allowed us to stream and hold video calls.
Drive slow into the park - there are plenty of bunnies bouncing around in the summer.

I hate the new NYS smokeless fire rings because you can’t see the fire unless it’s raging, but that’s coming to all NYS campgrounds.

This was our first time camping out with our new camper and we only live about 35 miles north of here. This was our shakedown cruise. Our site was back-in (they do have some pull through); it had electricity only - 30amp/50 amp and 110 plug (I believe that's the only ammenity). There is a fresh water supply and dump station on the left as you enter. There are also fresh water spigots along side the roads throughout the park. There is a bathroom and bathhouse (modern) in each loop and they are kept incredibly clean.
We stayed in site 30 on the Creekside Loop, which is closest to the entrance roadway; so some noise of cars and rigs coming in during day, but not bad. Our site was well leveled gravel and the trees were trimmed back nicely in all the sites. It rained to beat the band while we were here, and our site was NOT flooded.
This is a QUIET, small state park, suitable for couples and small adult groups that just want to hang out and have a quiet get away. There is a dock area on the Hudson within walking distance and a small playground. Nice views of Hudson River and boating. Kids would definitely be bored out of their skulls here - nothing for them to do.
We brought our German Shepherd and he had a great time! The staff was helpful and friendly and the area is patrolled frequently. Great cell service - we use Verizon 4G/5G - but we were not here for that.
We loved it here and will definitely be back!
