This is a free BLM campground about twenty miles south of Barstow. Really neat campground with beautiful views and incredible night skies. There are no reservations, it’s all first come first serve. Fourteen dry camping sites located at the end of about a mile and a half of washboard gravel road. Most have fire pits, some have a covered picnic table. A couple of vault toilets are available. Loved this place for the hiking opportunities and the tranquility! It’s a popular spot for rock climbing and can get busy on the weekends but we counted eight sites used during our weekday stay. We have a 32 foot trailer which we had no problem with, I’m not sure how big of a rig I’d feel comfortable bringing in. Leveling can be challenging in a lot of the sites. We really enjoyed our stay here and would return if in the area.

Amazing rock landscape, Really Nice Sites With Covered Picnic Tables, Grill, And fire pit. We would have stayed longer but there is a wind advisory for tomorrow. It’s already windy here so I think it’s time to move on. We’ll return happily.

Numbered sites only for this campground. Quiet and peaceful with awesome views. Please don’t bring your loud generator. Think of others and use a solar solution or inverter generator

We arrived at dusk and parked in a dirt spot nestled between lava rocks and with a fire pit. It was one of the first spots on the right before reaching the first three actual camping spots with picnic tables/pads. Great campground, scenic and quiet. However, when we left we noticed several large, rusty nails and some glass right at our front tires. We picked them up and threw them in the fire pit. Just wanted to warn others that you may want to get out and look around before pulling in a dirt spot that’s not one of the actual campsites. AT&T was none to one bar but was a little better in other parts of the campground.

Nice area to rest and enjoy an almost surreal landscape amongst the lava forms. Just wish they would fill in some serious dips in the road and provice more sites for large rigs when there is ample space available. Did pick up some litter, especially beer cans and there is busted glass where the rock formations are from dip sh*ts.

I couldn’t believe we were the only ones here. Only spent the night. Trash from other campers. Seems like that’s the norm now. We cleaned it up. Sites are big. Picnic covers and tables. Fire rings and bbq. Beautiful mountains surrounding the campground. I want to come back and spend more time.

Great hidden campground with big spots and privacy. We arrived on a Tuesday (4 PM) on the 23th of May with a 22 feet RV. The road is doable if you drive slow (max. 6 mph). Had a lovely day and night stay on our way to Las Vegas.

The view of the stars was the best I’ve had with no aid, naked eye star gazing & this spot is great. Being off the beaten path, no city lights, no traffic noise, just absolutely the best & we’re going back this April 2023 for more stargazing, relaxing & enjoying each others company for our anniversary!

Durning the day we watched many rock climber's practicing their skills climbing the many different rocks formations.
The only negative was the hard winds (30 to 40 mph ) we had day and night for 3 days. I don't know if this is a seasonal thing or if is always this windy in this part of the desert ?
I plan on returning as it's a nice quiet camp ground with no HOV allowed.

Aggravating washboard road leads to limited awesome looking sites full of hipsters and tourists that don’t want to pay to visit. Oh, and also pretend rock climbers. Yucky.
