I was driving my 25’ Motorhome from Death Valley NP to Great Basin NP but could not make it all the way so spent a night here. There was a group of 5-7 RVs camped here: most were together. Felt very secure with the larger presence. No one running AC or generator so very quiet so far.

this is one of the quietest places i’ve ever been... only the occasional car on hwy 6. peaceful, clean, a free shade trees and picnic tables. the restrooms were clean and fly free in June. the biggest bonus — with absolutely zero light pollution, the dark sky allowed me to see so many stars... spectacular! no cell service (maybe ... more

The good: Parking area evolved from a gravel rest area. Fenced in to keep the critters out. Park where you like some tables, trash cans. Level. Beautiful scenery. Parking area evolved from a gravel rest area. Fenced in to keep the critters out. Park where you like some tables, trash cans. Level. Beautiful scenery. Flat scrub around the lot with mountains further back. We saw sheep in the mountainside, horses in the distance quite a few times and a pronghorn antelope which wanders around on the other side of the fence. Lots of Jackrabbits, bunnies and a few coyotes. It's open range and the livestock belongs to a local rancher. There is also a well maintained dirt road which does back quite a few miles. There are spaces back there too.
The Bad:
There is more traffic on rt6 than there used to be but not bad really. A number of people stop to use the bathrooms. The lot next to it is for trucks so you may hear one or two.
There are an awful lot if flies which seem worst near the bathroom. T mobil signal will give you voice but probably not internet.
The Ugly:
The pit toilets. They are cleaned but bot the inside surfaces of the pedestals which are splattered, to put it mildly. The flies are bad in the area and I suspect they come from the toilets which are nearly full. We sprayed a can of Yard Guard down the toilets to kill some flies and fogged the area.
