It's a nice campground but it's frequented by skunks. Don't leave anything out at night or they will get into it. If you leave a grill or table out they will climb on it and investigate. It's a nice campground but it's frequented by skunks. Don't leave anything out at night or they will get into it. If you leave a grill or table out they will climb on it and investigate. A dog got sprayed by one so make sure you don't let your dogs run loose. (You shouldn't anyway) I love the way the sites are laid out, especially the perimeter sites. There is a lot of room to make your own and they are spaced far enough apart to not feel cramped. The other not-so-great thing is the smell, it was really bad in the morning and it smelled like raw sewage. I'm not sure if it was the river but it was terrible. I don't see any other comments about it so maybe it was just an odd occurrence, but because of the skunks and the bad smell it gets 3 stars. Paid $34 for water & electric, stayed 3 nights. It was very quiet and had 3 bars of AT&T cell reception suitable for streaming. If you point your HD antenna to 15° you can pick up 30 or so channels from Sacramento.
Note: Driving through the city of Rio Vista, to get to the campground and again when leaving, there are signs that state vehicles over 5 tons are prohibited. I'm not sure how you are supposed to get there or leave there without driving through town, but keep that in mind. I am 7 tons and just drove through anyway. I saw garbage trucks driving around that clearly weighed more than 5 tons.

We enjoyed our time here, morning coffee at the little sandy beach, and afternoons exploring Old Sacramento (hour drive) and the historical town of Isleton, (10 min drive). Went to The Point Restaurant down the road (walking distance) for beer and nachos! Great campground for families, pets and us!

The beach was small, but sandy as advertised. The camp host is a true gentleman, quite personable and very helpful. We would have liked to stay longer, but the highway was calling. The noise we read about in other reviews was barely noticeable and we were pretty close to it. We really liked this place and it is easily accessible but also off the beaten path. Verizon signal very good.

This is a rare gem: a park on the Sacramento River with a sand beach. Great camping experience for the family.

We really liked the large sites and the pleasant lay-out of the campground. The presence of the river is also very nice. We really liked the large sites and the pleasant lay-out of the campground. The presence of the river is also very nice. The only drawback was the constant noise from the government facility near the southwest end of the campground. It sounded like a large pump and it went on day and night. We happened to be in the site closest to the noise. In sites near the other end of the campground, it was much better.
The toilets and showers were in bad shape, dirty and not well maintained. The inside was not even worth a picture.
The camp hosts were very friendly and helpful.
