Sand Flat Campground

I discovered this campground by accident and am glad I did! I arrived on a Tuesday and there were plenty of spots open. Site number 21 is right on the river. The campground also goes back over a bridge and there are there other sites available there as well. There are picnic tables, fire rings, vault toilets, trash cans and water. Apparently there is also a dumpsite here as well although I didn’t use it. I think it is $10. Wood can be bought for $8 a bundle. If you’re up for hiking there is a service road at the end of the campground that goes on for miles. There are also two wading spots, or beaches, to swim at if so inclined. There is also a camp host and hostess who were very friendly and informative. There is highway noise but if you’re close to the river it drowns it out. I am a female solo traveler and felt completely safe here.

We love sand flat. The sites on the river are cramped but drowned out the sound of the highway. The sites in off the river can hear the noise from the highway but have lots of space. This place is all ffs and people camp out days in advance so it is not easy to get a spot. River is fun for rapids but not great for fishing. Dump station and water for $10. George the host is great.
