Only giving this a 4 star because of the area it is in. The section of the city is full of zombies and tweakers. Lots of police around, people nodding out on the streets, homeless camps set up.. However, the campground itself was nice, the showers and bathrooms were great! Hot water, privacy. Although idk if it was worth 100$ a night

Upfront, I had read some concerning comments about how this park was in a dicey part of town and that folks felt unsafe - we didn't fell that at all. It is definitely not in a fancy area, and homeless do exist nearby, but they never even got close to the park and the front desk has roving security patrols at night - we were definitely on the look for anything sketchy.
The park is very centrally located, which allows you to bounce out to a lot of different locations in SLC area, but yes it is definitely in an industrial area. It is, however, located next to a light rail/train station into town, which is nice.
The pool and playground were both nice, and both pretty secure from nearby foot traffic, but playground is still undergoing renovations with big walls coming in soon. Front desk was super responsive/helpful, to include delivering ice to your campsite for free.
There was only one other bathroom station aside from the front office, and if you are in a back row it's gonna be a good walk/bike ride to the pool/playground, so bear that in mind. Bathrooms/showers were clean but a bit dated. Sites were level and good enough space between - not a ton but not also not super cramped.
All in all, would definitely return.

We only stayed one night but the location was great for easily getting on and off the highway and for hanging out with friends in the city. The park was well maintained and the sites were level. The front desk was super friendly in correcting my error of accidentally booking the wrong dates. The area around it isn’t the nicest but we felt safe, plus security was constantly patrolling the park.

Best staff ever! Really helped us out getting an important package. The park is an oasis of safety in an unsettled area. However, the physical location, so close to downtown, is a big attribute. There is construction across the street that is noisy, but it seems challenging to expect a perfectly quiet park close to a big city downtown. This is our third stay, and we will always choose this park when in SLC.

We chose this park for the location - it is on the Green Line train which goes to Temple Square and the city center for $2.50. The park itself has trees, paved sites, and several other amenities, but it also has a large number of long term “campers” (including mobile homes) and is on a busy road. We didn’t use the laundry, showers, or bathrooms, so cannot comment on those. We took a look at the hot tub, but passed on it based upon the included photo. The office staff advised not to walk anywhere as the KOA is not in the best area.
If you camp here, choose a site other than “back-in/tent” as these back up directly to a road, which is noisy.

• They have propane on site.
• 2 carwashes on the property, 1 is 11’ clearance, the other 13’ clearance and long enough for most RV’s.
• BBQ and Pizza restaurants on the property.
• Great laundry room, plus another laundromat on the property.
• Only 1 negative and that is the outlying neighborhood, but the KOA and VIP parks have 24 hour security.
• I would stay here again.

The staff was very nice and helpful. BUT.. none of the other reviews mentioned the noise. TRAINS. There were at least 5 trains with very loud whistles during the night. As well as aircraft. Then the construction across the street started at 6:45am. Not really worth the money.

The area it’s in is rather rundown with a lot of loitering so we did not really feel safe taking the 2 mile bike ride into downtown, but that’s kind of expected for a KOA in the city.

THE GOOD
Location: Close to gas, restaurants, and groceries. Also is within a couple of hours of many featured places for adventure. Always felt comfortable and safe. Lots of reviews seem to dramatize the location's lack of safety. I disagree with those reviews as we did feel safe and comfy.
Store: Has a nice store on site for RV essentials plus some basic groceries.
Site: Long paved pull-through sites.
Water: Good water pressure.
COULD BE BETTER:
Cleanliness: There was some trash around the campground (more than just a few items). It was the holiday weekend. So, that very well could have been why. But, it is what we saw, so noting it here.
WORTH NOTING (not good or bad thing)
Location: It is close to the city vs rural. So, if an urban environment is not your taste, you might not want to stay at a campground that resides so close to the city.
Site: Site 1130 is right near the dog park, trash, dump station, and rec center. So, I would stay at another site next time, as the trash was a bit stinky and there was regular traffic to the dump station and such.

The VIP offers monthly rates and their website states they almost always have availability. I called and the woman said they could get us in for a month. We pulled in with our rig the next day and we’re told they haven’t had monthly spots for years but we could stay at a nightly rate until a spot opened up. Get real! It’s also right next to an oil refinery and a not so great part of town. Don’t waste your time.
