Easy to get to and lots of options for spots. Our spot was close to the main road but the traffic didn't bother us too much.

Access: Only about 5 miles from the freeway, so very easy access and great for a stopover to sleep and then get on your way. Paved road to single lane dirt road (only about 50’ on the dirt to get to the open area we stayed in). Watch for the road, it’s small and you could easily pass it if you’re not watching for it. There are also some spots along the main road but there were a few rvs already there. You could get in here with any size rig.
Site: We stayed in the big open area with our Imagine and our family in their 38’ 5th wheel toy hauler. Plenty of room for multiple rigs. Large fire pit in the middle of the grassy area. Site was clean and surrounded by trees.
Area: We didn’t really explore much because we were only there one day. My partner took the dog with the bike up the dirt road a ways and said he could see a lot from up there. You’re right next to the creek so you can hear the water and the doggie had a lot of fun playing there, although the access point right by the rig had some muddy spots so we took her over closer to the dirt road where there was more rocks and less mud. Clear water, not very deep. There’s a small pond on the way in where I saw some people fishing. Lots of swallows and it is wilderness so some bugs and moths at night but didn’t really get bit at all.
4 stars only because we didn’t have service. Would definitely stay here again.

To get here, take exit 225 off of I-15, turn east up Utah Highway 132. Drive about 6 miles up this road to mile marker 39, look for "Mt. Nebo Loop Road", turn left. Along this road, you will see many good pull-outs which would make a good camp site. After mile marker 34, watch the right side for "Pole Canyon Road". Turn right, and almost immediately after 500 feet, you will find this area on the right side of the road. It is more-or-less a round meadow with Salt Creek running around the outside. If campers spaced themselves around the circle, you could fit at least 10 units.
The southwest part of the meadow was green grass in early May. there is a huge fire pit in the center of the grass area. If you could manage to get here first, you could "reserve" the area, and have a large group campout. When we got there, there was a camper in the southwest part of the circle. For two days, we did not see any cars or people. We think it was placed there to hold the spot for the weekend.
We camped in the southeast area, away from the other vacant camper, with our back facing the creek. If your kids like adventure, there is a rope swing hung high over the creek, in the southeast end. Can't jump into the water, the creek was only running about 3 or 4 inches deep. (Sorry, kids!)
If we could get here first, we would leave our camper, then drive down the highway to where we could get phone service, call all of our relatives, and have a wonderful family reunion! Yes, we would come here again.

We stayed here in June 2020 on our way north on 15. It was convenient to interstate but really natural and secluded. As soon as you turn on the Nebo Loop road, there were sites that were taken. Big spaces for RVs and large groups. I read somewhere that Nebo Loop was recently paved and took out many of the pull off spots. Maybe that's why Salt Creek was crowded? We tent camped in a pull off that was a few miles from start of salt creek road. Dirt road was dusty and was only a problem when 3 DNR trucks with cattle trailers passed by in morning. There were cow patties around since it's an active cattle grazing area. I felt it was the last convenient boondock site before hitting provo and SLC.
