This is a nice stop on BLM for camping. It is close to gas stations, and a bit past those is the town of Yerington. There is nothing here, but there is a rest stop past the Golden Gate that has a dump station. Just a warning the roads aren't maintained, and there are some bumps and holes. Just a warning the roads aren't maintained, and there are some bumps and holes. If you're coming in with a trailer, you will want to watch your angels. It popped our cover lid off the end of our hook-up when it scrapped the ground coming in.
It can also be loud at night. As there are drying sheds across the way that have loud fans and you can hear the traffic from the highway.

We wanted a free spot right off the road for a quick over night stop. This was a great place to enjoy the sunset without needing to unhook because there were plenty of opportunities to find a level spot. If you keep driving past the old drive-in parking spaces, you can find more privacy or drive to the top of a hill like we did. There is a bit of road noise and it’s obvious that a lot of people have abused the land- lots of glass and tin can piles, but we were able to find a spot that we felt safe having the kids and dog playing. The only reason I wouldn’t camp here again is because there seem to be more interesting BLM spots just a bit further south.

We stayed here one night. Easy access, right off the highway. Found a level spot. Had the place to ourselves. Verizon service with no problem. A local came by and told us there was a John Wayne movie scheduled for tonight with free popcorn 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

We posted this one a couple years ago when we first stayed here and as abandoned places go this is about what you would expect for an abandoned place. If you're not into abandoned places this location likely won't be for you. Google has it listed as a historic landmark, not sure if that's accurate and the desert is slowly reclaiming it's rightful ownership, the property now managed by the BLM. Buildings and screen are showing a bit more wear than our last visit there's still lots here for the imagination. No need to sneak friends in the trunk this time and best to make your own popcorn, but the current movie showing is likely the same one you last saw at a drive-in. Making out in the back seat is still possible and less likely your friends will be knocking on the back window too!
We managed to roll in with our 40ft coach and tow okay at the entrance by the screen, someone has trenched part of the drive coming in that way but there's a much better (and wider) entrance about center of the drive-in and recommend that point coming in and going, need to dodge some of the many audio posts but not much trouble at all. Good seeing this place again, we stayed several days a couple years ago with no problems, only staying one night this time but we'll be back.
Cheers! Dave & Karen @ OurEndeavor
