Camp hosts are all wonderful. They will come around in evenings to check you in and verify your identity/reservations.
Javelina and bear area, with bear boxes provided. Apparently javelinas visit nightly but I didn't see any.
Walk to nature trail, short drive to the camp store and visitor center, and just a bit further to the Boquillas Canyon hikes and crossing into Mexico. There are 3 main areas of the park which are 45+ minutes apart; this is one of those main areas.
SO SO HOT and windy, this is typically the hottest part of the park.

Beautiful scenery. Be prepared for a long drive to get to the campground. I had a medical issue while there and went to the Ranger Station to ask for the nearest location of a doctor. Next thing I know I am being by two rangers who are trained EMT. They were wonderful!

Of the 3 campgrounds in the NP this is by far the best suited for bigger rigs and also works well for tenters. Very clean, great hosts and plenty of nearby water spigots. Cant beat the 1/2 price rate with the Access Pass. Would absolutely stay here again. If the sky is clear the stars are out in all their glory.

We stayed on the southern edge of the campground and used Starlink with a pole for the internet we needed to keep our jobs. This would be possible at most sites, but some others in this outside ring had tall enough mesquite that you might have a bad time. Site was a little bit tight for our 27' trailer and full-size truck—we were definitely pushing the limits of what that part of the campground could accommodate.
It's the largest campground in the park, with a wonderful nature trail nearby. In a few minutes, you can walk from your campsite, through reeds, into the desert, and out to the Rio Grande. Birds abound. You'll see coyote and, if you're up late, javelina.
We'll be coming back for sure, but also want to check out Cottonwood next time.
(FYI, we stayed in December 2022)

I’m not sure why some reviews are negative. We arrived here today in a 25’ MH with Jeep toad and we are more than pleased. The online photos don’t do this campground justice for early April when everything is green - trees, grass, etc. We have a back in site that is dirt and gravel, a covered shelter over the picnic table, a pretty little shade tree and lots of space between our neighbors. Loop 2 is shared between dry camping RVs and tents. I can hear a generator from across the campground (presumably a different loop) and glad I’m not parked next to him. I also hear birds chirping and we are steps away from a Nature Trail. The last two days we stayed outside the western side of BB which I’m glad since this park is SO big! This is a great location to explore the eastern side. Restroom spotless, no showers. We have Starlink so no info to share on internet or cell service.

We had a great experience in Rio Grande Village! The Chihuahuan Desert made for a great, warm environment for early March, and the nearby Chisos Mountains offered cooler temps during peak daytime highs, which got as high as 97 along the Rio Grande!
A wonderful, older campground, with well maintained amenities. The sites are not large, and there is not much foliage to separate them from each other, but the sites are of comfortable size and there is a good effort to maintain shade trees. Bathrooms are clean and in good condition, no showers in the campground, but coin showers are available at the camp store. No cell service, but there is WIFI at the camp store and most of the five visitor centers throughout the park.

We were here from Dec 2 - Dec 6. This site says it is a pull through and we used it as such. However, watch our for the low branches on one side of the pull through I wouldn't recommend a Class A on this site. Despite this, it was a great site. You can also back in instead and avoid the low branches on the other side of the pull through. This site does not have a covered table. The restrooms, trash bins and potable water are just across the road and nearby. The restroom was very clean. We didn't bother using cell service. Our time here saw a lot of sites taken. It was easy walking throughout the campground and seeing and meeting people. The campground host met us in the afternoon when we arrived. She gave us a run down on how everything works and location of sights to see. The Rio Grande Nature Trail to the river is nearby and is an easy walk and from the top of the hill you can see across the Rio Grande and in the distance towards the East you can see the village of Boquillas. Along the trail one can see small arts and crafts for sale put there by presumably people from across the river with a can for money. I don't think this is condoned by the Park Service, but I saw these items on different trails along the river. The only wildlife we saw at the campground was a coyote strolling along the edge of the campground. Most of the wildlife seems to be on the non-generator side of the campground. Otherwise, we were gone during the day to see other parts of the Park. On departure, we used the dump station. We were not able to flush the black water tank because the water hose did not have a fitting and we could not hookup our own hose. Not a problem because we drove to Alpine, Tx where we stayed at an RV park where we had full hookups. Big Bend is a must place to see.
