This is our 3rd time coming to this campground. Its really clean & well maintained with police cruising theough often. We love it here! Spots 5 & 6 are our favorites. We can run our little generator and not bother anyone. We are close to the boat ramp & right on the water. We'll worth $22 per night for out of county residents!

Located on a beautiful and spacious lake with plenty of waterfall, this is a beautiful place to stay. There is a public park with picnic tables trash cans, and scenic views are plenty.

This is my first time at this Campground and I enjoy it! I will definitely be back!! It's more than I expected for a free campground. It's not perfect but it does offer beautiful views from any campsite.
Most sites are directly on the water and each one has a trash bin, picnic table on a pad and a fire pit. There are a few grills available but they are with the day use picnic tables. The lots are not level but you are sure to find somewhere fairly level on each site. There's a bath house that has flushing toilets and a hot shower. The campground has a peninsula that they call the island and it has a swimming area, a fish station, a couple porta johns and it is for tent only camping with no generators. You will hear the generators regardless of which site you camp on. It's a nice size Campground but it is on the smaller side so noise carries, especially on the water.
Honestly, I was surprised this Campground was as nice as it was considering it was free. There are some minor things that could be fixed but overall it's great! It's kept pretty clean and Parks and Recreation comes around daily as does the local law enforcement. There's plenty of fishing, swimming, boating, kayaking. Anything you want to do on the water, this is the place. Spring city is 2 miles down the road and should have most everything you need.
The park allows you to stay 14 days at a time; 35 days a year. It is a seasonal Campground that closes during the winter. They do close for 2 weeks to do maintenance and cleaning, although that's never a set date. The closing dates could be advertised a little bit better to avoid people showing up to a closed campground. Also because it's first come first serve, you do run the risk of it being full.
If you're in the area in looking for a campground this would be in my top five, paid or free. I would be hesitant to make a special trip here unless I verified that they were open.

There is a bathroom/shower building that was well lit at night and clean enough. Seemed like every spot had a concrete picnic table and a firepit. Lots of families and dog friendly! We have a dog that is new to camping and my son let her out of her harness twice, so I was expecting to get mean stares from everyone as we tried to track her down but everyone was nothing but nice and helpful! Each spot was easy to pull into and out of and the roads at the campground were well paved. There is boat dock access and a little moored dock you can walk out onto separate from the boat dock.
10/10 will be back!

Arrive early and get a good level site. We'd totally go back but maybe with smaller rig. But there was a class A, a converted school bus and some other large RVs but only a couple spots they fit. Cell service was decent.

Great mostly quiet campground. No loud radios or people. No level sights. I we saw the sheriff drive through three times, maintenance man every day picking up garbage & cleaning bathrooms. Main negative was dogs barking.

Lots of tent sites, but few level ones for rvs. Watch out for faded yellow lines/markers that designate no parking areas within some sites.

We came here 5-7-2023 and the sign just stated Closed. Not sure when they will open again, but wanted to leave a review to warn others. Beautiful area though.

Still closed for the season as of 4/24/2023, said to be opening around the first of May.
“Closed When We Arrived ”
noted 11/11/2022
After reviewing this site and the campground website, we decided to stop in late while on the road. It’s the only place relatively close in the area. We arrived at 9 pm to find the campground was closed and looks to have been closed for a while. The website does not state that it is closed. Really wanted to check this place out.
noted 4/8/2021
Drove by on 4/6/2021. The camping area is gated. A sign out front said that overnight camping is allowed on "special weekends". I am not what that means - summer vs holidays. Otherwise, it looked really nice.
