400 ft. Of elevation gain as you leave the highway on a well-maintained dirt road. Great views and incredible sunrise. Clean sites with a picnic table and fire pit. We will definitely return.

This was not on our radar. We camped just below on the other side of the highway. Went for an atv ride and found this spot. You can hear a bit of the highway. Loved this place!!!!

(June 2017 most recent stay). I stay in this area on my way to and from Denver very often. The road is somewhat rough if you are in a car or a low trailer. (June 2017 most recent stay). I stay in this area on my way to and from Denver very often. The road is somewhat rough if you are in a car or a low trailer. I have stayed here in a Subaru forester and a scion FRS so it isn't terrible if you know how to maneuver a car and take it slow. I will be stopping here in Jan of 2019 in a 22 foot Jayco trailer and will update as needed. If you are in a truck you should try to push up the road to Castle Rock campground as it looks beautiful from satellite images. If you are in a long/low trailer or a car I would suggest staying in one of the first spots to the right. It is dry camping with no amenities, but plenty of sunlight for solar! For a free spot I love it!
