Quosatana Campground

We stayed at site 12 on the coho loop. We loved the size of the site, grassy area, and path down to the river. The cons were: $20/night, no dump station, and the jet boat tours that go through here 9:30am-7pm. They create a huge wake which isn’t good for fishing or swimming with smaller children. Otherwise, we would’ve stayed here longer. Those jet boats really killed the beauty and peacefulness for us.

We only paid $10 due to the senior access card so not bad. But the standard price of $20 is a bit steep since the dumpsite is not functional but there is running water in the bathroom in the coho loop. But one of the other loops had portapottys. There is a fish cleaning station and boat lauch area. There is a large gravel bar for fishing, boating and swimming access. The water is very high in iron so it tastes a bit metallic. Many sites are shady and there is grassy areas also We did not have cell phone access with AT&T. It is a fairly long drive (about 15 miles) back to the campground off of highway 101.

Two large loops of 43+ campsites within an ancient myrtle woods with paved roads, and a giant grassy field (a.k.a. no dust!). We stayed near the toilets as we were tent-camping. Our little one enjoyed watching the giant trucks unloading the boats by the fish cleaning area. For those wanting quiet choose the campsites further from the river access road.

The flush toilets are maintained well and have sinks and stainless steel mirrors. Well lit at night. Hosts on duty are exceptionally informational, knowledgeable and friendly. Campers are usually 2nd and 3rd generation campers at this site and come for the trout and salmon fishing.

Excellent place to walk your dogs, most reverential forest to walk and hike through. Be mindful there are eagle bear and cougar in the area. $2, 10 minute hot showers down the road at Huntley Park. We paid $10 with discount, otherwise $20 a night. Please note there is no ability to extend beyond 14 days. Hosts are firm on that point.

None of the amenities were available at the time I visited.

National Forest campsite, I really enjoyed my stay here.
There was no WIFI or Cell Service
Just a great place to relax and unhook. No amenities, just Nature and the Rogue River.
It's a bit of a narrow road in but worth the drive.
Fishing is great and the river access can't be beat.

We do love Forest Service Campgrounds! Campsites tend to me off the beaten track, not right next to your neighbor, heavy forested and more primitive which enhances our camping experience (as much as we can living in a diesel pusher) With our National Park Senior Pass, our nightly rate was half off the regular fee of $20.00 which is a nice benefit to young seniors.
There are two loops within the park, the Coho Loop and Chinook Loop, with a total of 43 campsites. The Chinook Loop has the larger sites for longer rigs.

We secured a site with a 55' asphalt pad in the Chinook Loop that could easily accommodated a 40' rig. In fact there were a least a half dozen sites occupied by large fifth wheels and motorhomes. Our site was right on the river bank, about 100 yards from the rivers. Myrtle Wood groves block most of the river views, but there were windows to catch glimpses of the many commercial jet boats going up and down the river and sightings of bald eagles and osprey flying over head.

As the Chinook Salmon were still gathering out at the mouth of the Rogue due to warm river temperatures, the campground never filled all their 45 sites. When we drove in to our loop, we had a choice of over 10 sites. We were told by the host that come August this campground is filled to capacity every day.

Locals have shared that this park was once a very pristine and well maintained Forest Service Campground, but over the years the park as suffered for a variety of reasons. Of the three bathroom building with flush toilets, only one bathroom in the Coho Loop is operable. Multiple portable toilets stand tall in front of the other bathroom buildings. The groves of trees at river's edge were also once thinned out all sites had un-obstructed river views. With only one host on duty and no assistance from Forest Service personnel, we do not anticipate any improvements any time soon. The grassy meadows are very nice and kept mowed by the host.

The biggest irk from us and fellow campers were the budget generators that some campers ran six hours a day. Quiet time is 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. Although the electric hogs were considerate and did not turn on their generators until 8:00 am, the excessive noice can definitely distract you from the beauty of the river and forest. As a one Oregonian neighbor shared, "thank goodness those campers were from Oregon and not flying the California license flag. That would only add to the arrogant, rude and disrespectful reputation they have". However, for the many years we have traveled here, we have only experienced kindness from residents of this beautiful state.

There is no cell service at this park. You will need to drive about 10 miles toward Golds Beach for a signal. Being disconnected though for 5 days turned out to be pretty nice and we made it work.

We enjoyed our stay here and plan to return one day for there are many activities to do. River rafting, fishing, hiking and a short drive to Gold's Beach for shopping and/or dining will keep you entertained if you prefer not to pull out a good book and relax.

we have been going there for boating, fishing, camping, for more than 20 years now, since the new district ranger ranger has taken over the campground has gone down hill fast, the grounds were not taken care of, toilets were not cleaned (2018), tree branches were hanging down into the roadway(we have a pickup camper). we were there last week 6-6 19 , the first thing you see is a sign saying no water in camp ground, which means no bathrooms-they did have porta potties-no dump station, no water for fish cleaning. not complaining about the price but it went from 15 a night to 20 a night, 30+ percent increase for less services was great when al and the former district ranger were in charge! still love the q campground and the rogue river! just disappointed! wonder if they are trying to close it down?

I have camped here off and on since I was a child, and family longer than that, and it's always a nice little experience at Quosatana. It's quiet, clean, affordable, open but covered for the mostpart, with lots of access to the river (including a boat launch and boat trailer parking, as well as a fish cleaning station) and some paths to walk or bike through. A couple of restrooms with running water are a great thing, as they are within easy access of every campsite. There has always been regular wildlife in the park, particularly gray squirrels and deer (rabbits were a regularity during summer months, in December I noticed a turkey which seemed relatively at home, chasing one of the deer).

My last stay was in 2015. However, my last drive through was in December 2017. It's still as pretty as before. In the right time of year, the smell of myrtle is wonderful. This park, even during winter, is green. The animals are out, and it's rarely busy. There were no campers at all on the day I drove through, save the camp hosts. And it was a gorgeous day!

This is my favorite park on the lower Rogue River. I don't have an RV and I'm not picky about river access, but I believe this is the last, best affordable campground between Gold Beach and Agness.

This was a last minute get together with two other families so there was 13 of us all together. We used sites 1 & 2. We were all impressed at the large sites and privacy we felt. We barely heard the other campers around us. We only had one person stay one night next to us. The campground was half full.

There is a lot for the kids to do too. There are paved road ways that many kids rode their bikes and skateboards on. There is a large meadow for playing in. At night we took blankets out there and gazed at the amazing night sky. Even our dogs were welcomed and made friends.

The river was perfect . The water was luke-warm. We brought floats and everyone had fun. The river is deep and there is a current so bring life jackets if you play away from the shore.

The bathrooms were very clean and the host was very friendly. On a side note there were a lot of yellow jackets. I think I might bring a couple traps next time.

We will definitely be going back.

14 miles up Rogue River from Gold beach. Easy walking distance to the river. We stayed last week of July -- and many empty spaces (expect because there is no hookups or showers). There are bathrooms and a separate place to clean fish. It has lots of trees, and the campsites are not packed as dense as a lot of state parks (this is a Natl park). Only reason I gave it three stars is due to no RV power/water hook ups - otherwise I really like this campground. It is 14 miles from town on a windy (but easy to maneuver road); so takes some time to get into town. Does have a boat ramp.
