Early Saturday evening after long drive and a visit to the Dollhouse Museum, drove through the campground and saw one possible vacancy. Drove down to the closed office and started out of the campground. Stopped by a red car and a man demanding "what are you doing here". Told him "looking for an overnight campspot" and he said "follow me". We went down into a valley in Site 3 and there was one spot among the derelict and trashed trailers, but it did have electricity and was level. Sent me to the closed office to register and pay the $26.50 and put it through the mail slot. The 30amp circuit was burned up. Used 20amp adapter without problem to run our airconditioner. Had city water and dump station. The trailer next to us had no electricity and was sleeping more that 7 men who did not speak English.

Site 12 in particular has a pedestal with reverse polarity, and it’s a known issue for the camp managers who will still expect their $20 per night from you. Several campers have makeshift septic tanks on the ground with crudely fashioned hookups. Long-term campers tend to park their vehicles anywhere and if they block your access, camp staff are reluctant to ask them to make room. There are plenty of other great campgrounds in the area; avoid this one!

This place has some fascinating history and a unique outdoor summer stock theater experience. The oldest outdoor theater in Kentucky with 5 productions running through the summer months. Definitely a good time and casual dining evening with stories of many famous faces that have graced the stage: John Travolta, Lee Majors, Jim Varney...to name a few. The campground has 35 sites with little elbow room; all have electric (30 amp) and water, gravel/grass pads, shower facilities and bathrooms, and they do have a "rustic" dump station. Many of the sites seem to have long term tenants...so this is best for a one night stop and a show. The town of Danville has what you need for supplies and dining, loads of historical sites in the area and of course there is a Bourbon Distillery that must make the list of activities.

Sites are close together, poorly maintained, but serviceable for a night or two. A number of long termed camera, probably working in the area. Only half of C/G has winter water (maybe 8 sites), no sewer nor dump station. Sites are under old trees with lots of small branches coming down. Lots of road noise from a busy street.
