FCFS camping. Hookup sites are on top of each other. Finally ran into the park manager (sign at office went from “we are here at 2:30” to “out for lunch, back at 1,” then showed up at 2) who gave us paperwork and said “find a site.” We found/fit into a nice primitive site on the river but at 8:45pm the manager knocked on the door and said “they don’t want RVs by the river.” There was a truck camper along the river and a travel trailer (with portable solar panels and a genny) across the street from our site. If you only want tents in the primitive section, then put up a sign. There are some long term folks as they have monthly rates. We left after one night as we don’t like congested camping. Huge park, dump station behind the wildlife center but we saw someone dumping a blue boy in a place outside the restroom near the hookup sites. (You couldn’t get a rig near it) Boat ramp and some trails near boat ramp. Lots of road noise due to being at the intersection of two busy roads.

As bad as they were, I did try to take a shower and could not get hot water. The office manager was nice but has other duties like mowing. If you try to register and the office is closed, find a site and leave him a note. My GPS took us to a huge RV resort across the road. Pioneer is at the corner of 17 and 64.

We spent a week here on a 50 amp water site. No sewer! Week rate was $125.30. 30 amp sites are available and a little cheaper. No sewer at any site in the park. Verizon service is adequate. 5-7 mb down and 10-12 up at 6 pm. Down is faster in less peak times. They offer monthly rates here too. Park has rivers and lakes to fish and boat... more

They offer monthly rates here too. Park has rivers and lakes to fish and boat/canoe but no swimming allowed anywhere in the park. Park roads are nice for walking and biking.
Relatively level sites with some trees space nicely.
Staff may not be in the office as there are two who do most.
Reservations are NOT taken. You have to take your chances.
