Place is popular with local fishermen, who cut through our site to get to the docks.
The bathrooms were old and not in the best shape. There are no showers (or any hot water here). No picnic table or fireplace at site itself.
The person running the office was very pleasant and kind. It's close to town with great shopping and dining, but the city needs to step up the maintenance and amenities here.

The park itself is a city park, with no playground. The RV parking area is smoother in pretty tight. We were able to open our slides, but not the awning without hitting the neighbor. We had no space to set out chairs or anything else.
Also, there is no swimming allowed in the lake & the ground is covered in stickers.
AT&T coverage struggled, T-Mobile worked just fine.
The pros;
-Price. Absolutely cheapest in the area.
-Clean bathrooms.
-Workers lock the gate at night which helped make a public city park feel safer/more private.
-full hookups
Overall, we would avoid staying here again because we couldn't set up and be comfortable. It was sufficient for an overnight travel stop.

We picked this place because all of the places in the Monterey/Carmel area were expensive. We drove past a few of the rv parks we had considered when booking and they were either right on a busy highway, way expensive, or both. Pinto Lake was a good place to visit Santa Cruz, Monterey, and Carmel. All were about 30 minutes away, and we were ok with that. We even drove to Big Sur and didn’t find the drive too long from Pinto Lake. A few things to note: we have a 25 foot travel trailer with no slides and we were absolutely shoehorned in between two class a motor coaches. We could pretty much touch the slides of the one motor coach on our camp side. Check in went fine. There are no amenities here. Plenty of space in front of the campsites to get hitched and unhitched without disrupting others. The water was shut off the second day (not sure why, but it was unforeseen) but they updated us when they thought it would be back on. It did not impact us much because we were out sight seeing. They told us in advance the water would be cut off again the next day to complete the repair, so we were able to prepare for that by filling up our fresh tank. They lock the front gates at 6:30 pm or so, which is kind of annoying. If you come back after that they give you a code to the padlock so you can get in. But, it is annoying to get out, unlock the gate, open it, drive through, close the gate and lock it. For the price though, it was fine. My kids enjoyed the large field to run around in, and there were some ducks in the lake that were cool to see. Full hookups - everything worked as advertised. Verizon cell service was good enough to allow our jetpack to stream when needed.
Laura would stay here again

Picked this spot because they have ample last minute availability, low price, and cell phone signal so we could work. Pros:
Great value for an area with extremely high campground rates
Does have cell signal
Minutes from town, giving us great access to grocery, Starbucks, & good local breweries
Full hook up
Gate locked in evenings with key access.
Phone reservations but first come first choice for sites.
Cons:
Though we never felt unsafe, there are some sketchy rigs that pass through here. We’re not RV snobs, but there’s a difference between an old rig and horribly maintained rig.
Also folks from the town walking though right next to your trailer at all hours of the day to go fishing & wander the park which made it feel extremely not private & not desirable to sit outside.
No tree cover for the majority of sites
Sites right on top of each other which wasn’t a problem because it wasn’t crowded, but would be if there was someone next to us.
Biggest problem was the cell signal gets majorly throttled around 2pm which made it pretty much unusable. Easy access to Starbucks made this less of a problem, but since this was a major reason for our choice of this campground it was a bummer.
Overall, it was fine, especially for the money, but wish we’d paid for a better campground.

A gas station and a very nice supermarket are just a mile or so down the road. There are several farm stands nearby. The local library had a nice building, friendly staff, and good parking; their wi-fi was very slow. There is no wi-fi at Pinto Lake.
Pinto Lake has a very helpful and friendly staff. The baseball games ended early, and the park is closed to all but registered campers after dark. Other campers were fairly quiet, but sites are so close together that there is no auditory privacy even when neighbors talk on their phones in normal tones of voice. The resident flock of geese stayed right at the lake, where they did not clean up after themselves; this made walking by the lake quite unpleasant.
Watsonville has a system of wetlands and sloughs with walking paths. There are several museums in the area. The coast beach parks and Monterey are a short drive away.
CVKSmith would stay here again
