A nice, clean campground above the lake. Great for tents and shorter RVs willing to back into a site.
We stayed on a Wednesday night with thunderstorms on the horizon, so we had the place all to ourselves except the camp host.
Site 46 was level and well maintained - not a speck of trash or debris in the entire campground. The toilets were clean as well. There were a few trees to provide shade and buffer between campsites.

What a very pleasant surprise. Just up the road from a very disappointing Juniper Campground is this diamond. As you enter Piñon campground you first see a dump station. Not your run of the mill forest service dump stations, but a well maintained very clean facility.
The main campground has three loops although two of them are group loops. The other loop has very well maintained sites around a large loop. Each site has a fire pit and table and tent pads are well placed and most of them fairly large.
The camp hosts (Roxanne and Walt) are new to this campground and have worked really hard at bringing it up to par.
This campground is well off the beaten path and you have to want to go there, but all in all, a fantastic place to camp and quiet like you wouldn’t believe.
We are going back next week for 5 days.
